Stopped over on the way back to the UK. There are two car parks near the hotel, One outdoors and one indoors, the indoor one is slightly more expensive, not much though. The hotel is great I really liked it, spooky old a different to ones I have stayed in before. The rooms were clean and the bathroom was also.... More

Contrary to most other contributors, I would not recommend this hôtel at all, certainly not on the basis of our stay in room 302. The photos on the hotel’s site give you a false impression of a classy hôtel. This is not the case. Our room was run-down and devoid of charm: - the furniture was heteroclite and of flea-market... We stopped over at Metz en route to Switzerland, having never visited that part of France before. It was a great choice - and the Hotel de la Cathedrale was a lovely small hotel. As other reviewers have mentioned, it is directly opposite the cathedral - our room looked out on the cathedral which was beautiful in the sunshine. We... More

We decided to stay in Metz as we had driven past it so many times and decided to see what it's like. A bit dismayed to find no one has a good word to say about it but it turns out this is because they remember the traffic jams or the industrial outskirts. Not many people (including the French) have... More

Genuinely friendly and warm from the offset, decor was gorgeous with fantastic attention to every detail, breakfast was a delight to the eyes and wanted to try it all, what I did have was all very tasty. They even insisted on giving us lots of bottles of water as it was really hot. We also had to cancel our 1st... More

We booked here mainly for the view & location, but were pleasantly surprised by the beautifuly restored building and the rooms, such a comfy bed, high quality sheets and pillows, furniture and fittings chosen by someone with a great attention to detail. The breakfast was amazing. I could have stayed for weeks.

We really loved this hotel, wiich has lots of character and a great view of the cathedral. Very friendly staff made us feel very welcome and were more than happy to recommend other restaurants, rather than trying to talk us into eating at theirs (which looked and smelt very good but we preferred to find somewhere more traditionally French). Sadly... More

Beautifully vintage, amazing view of the cathedral, close to the shopping area, romantic neighborhood, clean with the nicest staff I have ever encountered. I can't wait til my parents and friends come visit us in Germany from LA so I can find excuses to keep going there.

My wife and I stayed at the Hotel for a night. This was also one of the highlights of our week-end escape to the beautiful city of Metz. As you enter the hotel and go up the stairs you feel yourself as you've been teleported in the times of knights and musketeers. It is decorated with very much attention to... More

This hotel is in a great location, close to all the main sights, but quiet and with lovely rooms. Fab service and a breakfast to die for, with really good coffee, about 12 different tarts, lots of pastries and all fresh. Great value as well
