Whoops for the delay - had another child. We stayed here for 3 nights end of Aug 2013. I was getting quite heavily pregnant and we had a 3 year old with us, given these circumstances I was a little apprehensive, but La Ferme du Lac was everything we needed and wanted. It really is the most incredible location, albeit... More

La ferme du Lac is situated in a lovely setting .The chalets though basic were perfectly comfortable and well equipped.Peta and Steve made us feel very welcome and included us in activities although they were very busy finishing the season. The walking in the area is very good and there were lots of birds and other wildlife about. We visited two very... We loved this place. Basic but sufficient chalets; fantastic location surrounded by woods with serenity of the lake; great walks and small villages to explore (and their markets and food of course.....); lots of activities to do nearby eg Lake to swim at; walk with pull along ferry; velo rail and go ape at Bussiere galant; caves with prehistoric paintings... A superb B & B located in lovely, tranquil surroundings. The rooms were clean and well appointed, and hosts Peta and Steve were charming and extremely helpful - nothing was too much trouble. We had an 'al fresco' evening meal on two occasions, excellent food and most enjoyable company. There are lots of different things to do and see in... More

Cottage 2 was even better than we hoped for. Secluded, comfortable, with a fantastic view over the lake. A beautiful place to relax and unwind. Steve and Peta are excellent hosts and there are plenty of things to do in the area: a footpath runs past the site, Piegut market on Wednesdays, the Grotte de Villars has some some amazing... More

La Ferme Du Lac was the second overnight stop on our motorcycle ride to Spain, from the UK. We had ridden for two days in heavy rain and were thinking “We should have brought a boat, not a bike" Well, we left the motorway and there was about 25 miles of countryside to ride through to get to the hotel... I would like to thank the hostile people of La Ferme du Lac. We had a really nice time there. The area around the lake is so quiet and beautyfull, really a place to forget all the turbulent things from a normal working week. Peta en Steve are always willing to help you but if you want to be on... More

We booked our holiday on the strength of the reviews and we weren't disappointed. Such wonderful holiday memories - Peta, Steve, John & Leona couldn't have been more welcoming, helpful with advice & really nothing seemed too much trouble or too trivial - and our deligthful chalets tucked away in the stream meadow were a real treat. Simply furnished but... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Family run, La Ferme du Lac is a 17th century restored farmhouse nestling at the bottom of a 25 acre wooded valley in one of the most beautiful areas of France. The location is stunning, a private valley with a dammed lake at one end, farmhouse and out-buildings in the middle and a riverside meadow with cottages and camping spaces. What more could you ask for! The night sky at La Ferme du Lac is phenomenal. Equally you will find the sunsets to be magnificent, and the sunrises are pretty spectacular too. The early morning mist rolling off the lake, with kingfishers flying by, is a sight to behold. All in all La Ferme du Lac is the ideal place for a family holiday in high season, and while children are always welcome it tends to be couples and groups that we see out of the high season. ... more   less
