First the good stuff: The hotel is well-situated to the old part of the town and the sensational Roman Arena (DEFINITELY NOT TO BE MISSED!). Also, our internet connection (unsecured) was free and light speed! Well, that about sums up the good stuff I'm afraid. Stop reading now if you think there's anything else good I can say about this... More

We stayed here with a group and thoroughly enjoyed the hotel. It is like stepping back in time while still having all the comforts of 2014. Although rooms were a bit small , we had everything we needed. Beautiful gardens are attractively lit up at night so you can enjoy a drink under the stars. Absolutely excellent meals especially the... More

This is a beautiful old hotel with modern touches. Lovely gardens, excellent gourmet restaurant. Delightful friendly and helpful staff. Good breakfast, including an omelette chef on duty in the dining room. Rooms and bathrooms are traditional. If you like modern, clean lines this will not appeal to you, but if you want to feel a bit special, then it will... More

Madam, Sir, What a perfect description of our establishment : a part of heritage of the traditional "hotellerie". We did indeed invest largely in a brand new air conditioning system - very glad that it suited you. Thank you for visiting us. My best regards, Christophe CHALVIDAL General Manager More

The decor is lovely - very tasteful 19th century, but as has been said in other reviews, without the loss of modern amenities. The minibar is carefully hidden in an old bureau. I loved the bowl of fresh cherries waiting in my room on arrival. The location is perfect within walking distance to all the sights of Nimes, and a... More

Madam, Sir, We are very honored to have reached your expectation. San Francisco is a long way and offering you cherries was the minimum we could do. With my best regards, Christophe CHALVIDAL General Manager More

My second stay in Nimes and at this hotel. Traditionally French in style, beautiful hotel, situated next to Les Jardin de la Fontaine. A short walk to the centre. The staff are all friendly which makes it the perfect place to stay.

This is a Grand Hotel in the old sense. The decor, furnishings and rooms are of a bygone age, but that does`nt mean they are dated or inefficient...all modern facilities are here. A doorman greets you upon arrival and you are ushered into the wood paneled reception area...book in ...walk through the lounge full of overstuffed sofas...to an old style... More

Madam, Sir, It is very pleasant to be compared to a Grand Hotel... Thank you very very much. You were sensible to the charm and the soul of our "Old Lady". We take good care of your comment regarding accessibility - work is under process and we are very keen on having that sorted early next year. Regarding parking space... More

A nice touch of Hemingway without having to struggle with sharks, raging bulls, Francoists or the Wehrmacht, the Imperator doesn't overdo its association with the famous American typist but concentrates on fine, stylish service. The spacious dining room is OK but the patio, with a bit of wine tasting and appetizers, makes you think that this is what France is... More

Dear Tom from California, Thank you very much for commenting your latest experience in our establishment. Indeed, our keys are "antique"...and need a little bit of practice. I am often wondering how Ernest Hemingway was managing after few Chivas!!! It was a pleasure welcoming you in Nimes. With my best regards, Christophe CHALVIDAL General Manager More

We stayed for one night and thoroughly enjoyed our interaction with all the staff. When we arrived by car we were promptly greeted by the valet/doorman/bellman. We speak no French and he spoke only the slightest English. He took my wife's bag and showed to the front desk. A very pleasant and English speaking hostess greeted us and promptly checked... More

We located the hotel on line. From the time we arrived until we departed the hotel staff could not have been more helpful. Very nice room. The front desk very helpful. Dinning room staff very helpful. The elevator would be the only problem. This is a classic old open elevator. If someone takes it up and leaves the door open... More

Sir, Madam, Thank you very much for taking time commenting your latest stay with us. I am glad you enjoyed our restaurant - Sarah the F&B Manager is a key member of staff putting a lot of care into providing a quality service. Concerning the lift - this is it!!!! A pretty amazing hotel. I have stayed here on business for the past 3 years. It is probably expensive, but well worth it… Always a joy to return. It has a beautiful courtyard and is near a nice park round around the corner.
