Nimes is a great, lively city but hot especially in July. Having checked in today after a long drive it would have been nice to have been able to cool down with a shower.....or prior to going to dinner....or returning from a night in the city. Thursdays in Nimes are fantastic. But instead I have a broken shower that cannot... More

3 of us shared a large triple room off the beautiful carved stone staircase. The building is beautiful and more than lives up to the photos. The staff were friendly and helpful despite the crimes we committed against the French language. We didn't use the bar or have breakfast but both looked good. The only downsides were the wifi being... More

The doorway on a narrow street hides this marvellous little hotel. The staff are great. Rooms special - ours had a view to the street - Rue D National. Our room was modern, and well equipped- even a Queen bed. Nearby are many cafe and passistories so we only had one breakfast in house - that was okay. We were... More

This is a 3 stars budget but 5 stars enthusiasm hotel. Some things need refurbishing but it's ok. There was a funny-grumpy French guy in the from desk but the manager was very nice and spoke English. Everything is clean and the central patio is really beautiful. We got a big room in the third floor with a very nice... More

The building, dating from the time of Louis XIV, was the home of the Marquis de la Baume. The 34 rooms are comparatively modern, whilst the loveliest part of the house is without doubt, the internal courtyard and staircase, which are classified as a historic monument. The rooms have been fairly recently renovated and room 110 in which we stayed,... More

this was definitely the most unusual hotel we stayed at but was charming...and great value. Terrific location in the old town...a few minutes from the temple/amphitheatre and all the best restaurants. The building is 1700s..the staircase has been cleaned but not changed. This is the centre of the building and the charm hinges around it. The staff were very helpful... More

I got the room directly fronting the street and the pizzaria across the street was noisy unitl 1am. I could not sleep well at all! Several light fixtures in the room did not work...but it was OK I guess. The front desk staff did not speak much English but they were friendly overall. You can get free wifi here which... More

Firstly I would rate this as a 3 star hotel rather than a 4 star. The bedroom was fine except that the safe did not work. This was just as well as I discovered it wasn't actually fixed to anything and I could carry it around. The bathroom, whilst modern, showed damage from previous floods. Moaning over- both the communal... More

It looks pretty normal from the outside but the stone courtyard steps are so beautiful inside. The receptionist was really friendly and helpful and the hotel was good value for money. What would make it great is if the rooms carried through a bit of the charm that the courtyard exudes, they don't have any original features. Also an easy... More

We stayed at the Marquis de la Baume for 2 nights in May. The room was fairly comfortable - nothing fancy and as it was an "inner" room, it opened onto an alley, which tended to be noisy evenings and early morning. The stairwell is a lovely architectural asset, but the rooms (at least ours) are about what you'd find... More
