We stayed here just one night and had a perfectly good experience. We arrived a little early for check-in but the staff set us up immediately. As a hotel so near to the train station as it is (it's an incredibly easy walk), this is a great option. The room was clean, a decent size, and the hotel was quiet.... more

Basics are ok, location is good, reasonably clean. Service is just terrible. The reception is hostile to guests, not sure how they could still be in business, maybe just for first time travellers. The standard answer is a simple "NO". The heat was not working and the guy did not even look at me and said there's nothing he could... more

Hotel is average in every respect, but is very convenient to the train station. Rooms are small and reasonably clean although the hotel does not offer dedicated rooms for non smokers, so expect odors. Location is on a busy trolley line with no vehicles allowed, so dropping off luggage is very difficult as is parking. Overall, hotel is acceptable but... more

While this place has a great location, it had many other problems. It is close to the rail and tram station and as a consequence, there are alot of young people that hang out by the hotel all day and all night. So, in addition to the tram noise, you have to listen to the people making noise all night... more

I would highly recommend the Royal hotel. I booked a single room for 4 nights as I had a friend staying there, although couldnt stay with her as her accomodation didnt allow. She recommended it to me as her parents had also stayed there when they had come to visit. I booked the hotel by phone and the gentleman I... more

I will admit, we stayed here for only one night as a kind of stopover between the French Riviera and our flight out the next day. That said, I was impressed with this hotel. It is in a great location, VERY close to the train station (2 blocks), and about another block to the main square. While we were there,... more

Recently spent four nights at this hotel in a superior double room (which was still only about US$100). The hotel itself was very nice and comfortable. The bath large, modern, and the room also extremely large with comfortable bed, small table and chair, luggage rack, large closet, and day bed. This was a superior double but could be used as... more

Spend two nights in the Royal Hotel, modern and extremely central in the heart of the city. We stayed in room (118) it was big and modernly finished. Decent sized en-suite with bath (no separat shower). The Room is located to the side street. Buffet breakfast was included in our deal. more

I first stayed at the Royal hotel in 1999 and again in 2001. I love Montpellier - it's quiet, cozy, hip, colorful and the old-world feeling of the town center appeals to me. There is a large population of young people since the University is close by. There are no pretensions here and the whole city is friendly (My French... more
