This has been such a nice break and the B&B was the icing on the cake. Fantastic reception by the owner, Johanna, who couldn't do enough for us - she even got up really early one morning to prepare our breakfast when we had an early morning train to catch for a day by the coast. Also loads of helpful... more

On the drive up to this lovely town in the early evening, we looked forward to a pleasant stay within the city walls. We weren’t disappointed, but it was more in spite of, rather than thanks to, our ex-pat host Johanna! Alarm bells started to ring with the slightly unsettling 10 minute intro; breakfast was from 8.30 to 9 only,... more

When we got into Carcassonne, we had been traveling all day and then walked in the heat up to the old city. We were both exhausted and I desperately had to use the bathroom. When we arrived at L'Echappe Belle after hauling our luggage through crowded cobblestone streets, we were welcomed warmly but not allowed to enter our bedroom. I... more

We booked L'Echappee because of it's location within the Cite, and although you do pay a premium for staying within the walled town it is worth it. Carcassonne is one of the most extraordinary places I've ever visited and completely captivating. The B&B is clean, attractively decorated and comfortable. The rooms are a reasonable size but are missing some (to... more

We stayed for two nights at this b&b, it was a nightmare to find and a nightmare to get the luggage to. Also it was the most expensive we have paid in France and the worst quality. We were made to feel very unwelcome on arrival and felt like we were impossing. We definitlely would not recommend this b&b for... more

We booked three nights at L'Echappee Belle, as part of a 10 day visit to France for our 20th Wedding Anniversary. When we arrived at just gone 4pm, the owner seemed a little suprised. She was welcoming on arrival, but did not show us up to our room, which should have been a give-away. We had noticed that the downstairs... more

Its very cheap, its very clean and Johanna the lady who owns it is lovely. The town itself is beautiful. My only complaint would be the strict hours as we only stayed for one night. Basically she would not let us in until 4 and we had to be out by 10 the next day. She really needs to be... more

Our taxi from the airport took 20 mins and dropped us off at the main gate to Carcassonne. It is an extremely beautiful walled city, with windy cobble stoned streets. We didn’t have much trouble with our rolling suitcases but they were small and not too heavy, wouldn’t like to attempt it with major luggage or in high heels. Johanna... more

We picked this hotel because of the reviews and we were glad we did! This B&B is extremely clean and has powerful air conditioning in the room which was very welcome. Both bedroom and bathroom were large and although relatively basic had everything you could ask for. Breakfast consisted of croissants, bread and coffee/tea which was nice but if you... more

We picked this b&b because of the location and excellent reviews. We booked two rooms, room 2 on the first floor and room 4 on the ground floor. The location is superb. In the centre of the old city, yards from everything and yet down a street that barely anybody walks down. Next door is a fantastic restaurant where we... more
