Fantastic location. Welcomed by two gorgeous dogs. Bar service excellent. Breakfast simple; but perfect. Gardens superior & clearly well loved & very stylish. Room well decorated. English spoken which helped us really relax. Try the locally made yoghurt.

Just got back from 2 nights at this wonderful hotel in an amazing location. We had room 12 which was above the reception area. The room was a little small but was beautiful and was very clean and tidy and well decorated and furnished. Coffee making facilities in the room and perhaps bottled water would have been a nice touch... More

My partner booked this as a surprise for my 50th birthday. We had room 4 downstairs with a view of the old city and it was gorgeous. We found the staff to be helpful though we really didn't ask much of them ! we didn't bother with breakfast in the hotel as there were some lovely cafes in both the... More

We were celebrating our 60th and 65th birthdays this year and wanted to stay somewhere that felt special and unique. We selected the Hotel du Chateau partly because of its great location but also because it looked to be high quality without being stuffy. We were not disappointed. Those few reviewers who criticise this hotel are missing the point. It... More

To start with I should state that Carcassonne is an expensive place to stay. There is not a huge number of hotels and if you are staying in Carcassonne then you really do want to be near the centre. The Hotel Du Chateau is well located with being a five minute walk from the main entrance gate and has private... More

After encountering a small amount of attitude when checking in, the hotel turned out ok. Everything is fine - not amazing and not terrible. Just ok. Bedroom didn't have proper light blocking curtains which I found quite strange. It's very close to the old area which itself was an incredibly weird and disappointing experience (a very odd array of unappealing... More

We had a lovely one night stay at this boutique hotel as a 'treat' at the end of our week long holiday in France. Our classic room was very compact for two, but furnished beautifully. You really can't beat the location, right at the castle walls, with private parking (for a fee). We missed not having a small fridge or... More

We stayed for three nights in a junior suite. Lovely room - the window overlooking the bath from the bedroom appealed to our quirky taste and for those people who are modest there is an automatic blind! Didn't bother us at all, just made us smile. Breakfast is excellent with a strong emphasis on quality local produce from local suppliers.... More

V disappointed- gone rapidly down. V poor service yet v expensive. At €235 a room I expect water, kettle etc. but found an empty fridge & no staff available when I requested a bottle of water. Avoid this hotel despite good location outside old town gates.

Lovely hotel in a tremendous setting overlooking the cite. Great outdoor areas and lovely pool to cool off in. Rooms great apart from an odd window between bathroom and bedroom which isn`t great if your daughter is sharing the room with you. Service excellent. All good BUT why, when spending nearly £1,000 on 4 nights here can they not run... More
