We had two nights in an appartment double room in April. The location of this new hotel is right on the edge of Carcasonne, and right underneath the fantastic medieval citadel. We booked through Expedia and got a one (huge) bed studio for around £42 per night. The rooms were spacious, and although minimal, very comfortable and clean. This hotel is ideally located right next to the medieval city. To get to the hotel you will need a taxi but after that its a short 10 minute walk into the old city or 10 minutes in the opposite direction to the new town. The hotel location is so good. Just behind La Cité walls and like 2-3 minutes walking until you get in there. Appart from that, there's not much life around... no bars, supermarkets or whatever. Appartment cost 50e per night - - - it was very spacious, clean, towels changed daily, had reasonably adequate cooking facilities. Very easy to find if you approach from the south, this hotel is probably as close as you need to be to the old city, and close to the river.
