We stayed only one night at the end of our holiday before flying home from the nearby airport. We arrived at 11am, when, understandably, our room wasn't ready so we left the car and went into the cite, just 5 minutes walk, returning later. Our room was small but had all we needed, a large very comfortable bed but rather... more

The Mercure Porte de la Cité is one of the best options to choose hotel in Carcassonne; the hotel is recently renovated (in fact, they are building a little swiming pool but it´s not a problem because they works after 9 or 10 am and at this hour we are just walking across this wonderfull city. We book a privilege... more

We stayed 2 nights in this hotel. The staff we very pleasant and helpful. This is a perfect location for "La Cite" as it is just 2 minutes walk away. If you ask for a room on the second floor rear you will have a view of the walled city from your window. You are also only 15 minutes walk... more

This was a great place to visit the medieval village. You are at the footsteps of the castle within a 5 minute walk. I had a beautiful view of the castle from my room. The staff was very friendly and helpful with all of my requests. They gave me an early check-in and late check-out. The room was clean, a... more

booked this hotel after reading reviews on tripadvisor and glad we did. Hotel was nicely located withing 5 mins of cite and also 'new town' over the old bridge. Slight mixup in booking but soon put right with a phone call. Staff were friendly and always had a welcome not matter where you met them ( reception, bar, restaurant and... more

The hotel is perfectly situated just outside the entrance to the walled city and less than a five minute walk. The hotel appears to have recently been renovated as our room decorations, furniture, and bathroom were all very modern, colorful and attractive. The front desk spoke perfect English and went out of their way to be helpful and offer advice.... more

We were visiting Carcassonne on business and chose the Mercure because it advertised on it's website an outdoor swimming pool. When we arrived at the hotel and we were advised that the pool had been demolished to make space for extra bedrooms. The rear of the Hotel was a building site with lots of heavy plant and pile drivers operating... more

We booked this place based on TripAdvisor and Rick Steve's recommendations. After 2 nights in Paris in dubious, cramped accomodations, this place was wonderful. Very comfortable spacious rooms (ours were adjoining). Bathroom was best of whole trip. We had the buffet breakfast and the "menu" dinner. Food was well above average and price was excellent. Hotel is perfectly situated for... more

This is ten out of ten stuff. And who would have thought that a Mercure could be so good. The staff were great, the room - opening onto the garden - was small but perfectly formed, clean and comfortable as was the bathroom. The food was super. In two weeks in France this place scored highest and was cheapest on... more

We read some reviews of the hotel from this website and most were good. That said, the hotel surpassed our expectations. It's closer to la cité (the part that you want to visit, not that the rest of the town isn't nice) than you'd think - about 300m. The gardens are lovely and if you're luck enough, you might get... more
