My students actually cried touching the walls of this fortress! It's beautiful charming affordable shops. You have to order a cassoulet for lunch and share it just wonderful! People are friendly. Bathrooms in restaurants are better than porta potties

Really enjoyed our stay in this lovely hotel, just beyond the gates of the Cité (a short walk across the carpark). Worth getting a Priviligé room for space (2 adults, 2 kids), and some little luxuries. Also for the magnificent view of the Cité. Check in was quick and easy. The reception staff were very helpful and pleasant, and when... More

I stayed 3 nights at the hotel. The hotel is situated a few minutes on foot – mostly going uphill - from the citadel’s Narbonne Gate. At € 132 per night, without breakfast (€ 15) for a room with a view of the garden, the hotel is a bit expensive. It, however, is located very conveniently if you want to... More

When we told people about traveling to Carcassonne, many have not even heard of this city. We are glad we came and stayed at Mercure. Location is great, a mere few minutes walk to the fortress and castle and heaps of eateries. Check-in was seamless. A surprising find was the good English spoken by the staff. Staff are ready and... Quiet location a few minutes walk to the old city. Easy to find with good parking. Room very clean, reasonable size with tea-making facilities, wifi and good shower. The receptionists were friendly and spoke English. The restaurant was very good with excellent service. Good choice on the menu with English translations although the board showing the day's special choices was... More

Having not stayed at a Mecure before we were pleasantly surprised with the quality of food served at both dinner and breakfast. Had read other reviews with similar experiences but so far in our 2 weeks driving across France we had yet to find a reasonably priced hotel with good food. Mecure's breakfast was outstanding, both in quality, variety and... More

The hotel is ideally located, next to the walled city in Carcassonne. Although, it's a bit difficult to get there from the train station in the evenings, since there are no buses. It's not a big hotel, 80 rooms, but there is a swimming pool in the garden which is open during the summer. Before visiting the hotel, we felt... More

No question, the location is the best. We saw the fortress from our small window, walked to it in a few minutes. Parking is convenient and free. Internet is free and good. The breakfast that was included in our price was varied and plentiful. But the standard room is small. With two suitcases and two carry ons, it was crowded.... More

Good location, nice facilities. Quite small rooms. Parking lot a bit too small to fit all the hosted people cars. Correct staff except a rude lady in the restaurant. Overall not bad, but we would probably try somewhere else should we visit Carcassonne again.

This hotel whilst not luxury ticks all the boxes-clean comfortable in a good location near the old city and reasonably priced. We arrived 25th December needing to eat but concerned at previous reviewers comments ; what a lovely surprise to find that the 3 course meal we had was unfailingly excellent-so good indeed that on a further wet and windy...
