We came to the Mercure Porte de la Cite because we were visiting Carcassonne for a brief stay and we wanted somewhere close to the Medieval Cite that didn't break the bank. The Mercure Carcassonne Porte de la Cite gave us exactly what we wanted. If you are looking for quaint, old world charm then the Mercure isn't going to... More

Maybe we were lucky, but we got upgraded to a superior twin with juliet balcony for only 116 euros. And with Mercure's high standards of accommodation, it was great VFM. About 10 minutes from the A61, but right next to the walled medieval cite (5 minute walk from the hotel. And very attractive swimming pool. Suggest you stay at the... More

Stayed for four nights in Mercure Carcassonne, Port de la Cite. Arrived to a very warm welcome from the always helpful staff on reception. Our room was on the ground floor, with French doors out to the garden area. The room itself was very comfortable, though on the small side (was fine for the four nights, particularly as the weather... More

We were not disappointed with our choice of the Mercure for our two night stay in Carcassonne. Staff were very friendly and helpful and the room we had was a good size. Very clean and to a good standard. The bed was to die for. Breakfast was good but very busy as on both nights there was a coach party... More

Excellent location, clean comfortable hotel with a good swimming pool. The only issue is the food, restaurant in the evening was chaotic and service very poor, breakfast expensive for a poor selection of poor quality food and certainly not worth the excessive price.

The hotel is just a few 5 minutes walk from the main entrance into the old town. Hard to get better. Service is OK, and follows the standards of a Mercure hotel. My only 'minus' goes for the breakfast price (15€/person if not included in your rate), which I find a bit 'offensive' for its standard.

Fantastically located. Five minutes to the citadelle. The hotel is 'mignon' and the rooms are clean, with quality-design, free wifi and more. The night was silent and comfortable. Parkings are in or near the hotel, so the only 'con' we've foud was the price (15€) of the 'petit déjeuner'.

Picked this as a good spot to explore Carcassonne. 1st room we were allocated basically had a mouldy type of smell. Immediately went to reception and after waving my Accor Platinum finally was upgraded to a Privilege room which was excellent. Its a shame you have to use the high member status muscle (as opposed to being offered) but it... More
