From a diminutive and unassuming street entrance, you take the lift to the first floor, and there it starts. A small but lovely hotel, conveniently located, with small but cosy rooms and a thematic décor (chess) signed by an artist. Lovely.

I was lucky enough to have a two day stay at The Chess hotel upon a recent visit to Paris. Location is on a lovely quiet street, but less than five minutes walk to the Palais Garnier, and less than ten minutes of Galleries Lafayette and Printemps, as well as many sites for shoppers to indulge. You'll find the metro... More

I have stayed several times, and I will continue to choose the Chess. As I have always had great service. The hotel is very clean and has great décor. The location is convenient, close to a metro station.

Located in a peaceful small street between boulevard Haussmann and boulevard des Italiens/Capucines, the Hotel is ideally situated for those who want to experience the big shopping trip inside the big department stores (which I did not try to do because of the massive affluence during the festive days). Very short walking distance to 2nd district where a bunch of... More

We arrived on an early flight from NY and fully expected to have to wait until the afternoon to check into our room. The staff were incredibly helpful and let us check in early. The room was beautiful and the location is close to everything.

Great location, right next to the shops and metro, but on a side street so not too noisy. Rooms were a good size for Paris and they were in a good condition. Staff were efficient but not particularly friendly. Wouldn't stay again as there are far too many hotels on Paris to try.

I really enjoyed my stay at Chess Hotel. It's a stylish property handled with a lot of care. You can tell this right off the bat I think because when you enter the hallway from the street level, there's this otherworldly fragrance. Small details like that matter. We stayed in a cleanly designed Deluxe Room, which was very spacious. There... More

Welcoming ok, room small but ok, service ok, so everything ok! From the outside it doesn't even look like an hotel... but once inside it's great! The nice "Chess" decoration gives it great character! So I can recommend it! Metro nearby! Easily reachable and parking round the corner!

We are here right now for our honeymoon having tied the knot last weekend. The hotel is in a superb location, lots of restaurants/shops right on its door step, as well as being central to all of Paris' main attractions (it's still a bit of a walk to things such as the eiffel tower etc, but it's a pleasant walk),... Staying in Opera / Bourse

Neighborhood Profile
Opera / Bourse
The neighborhood around Opéra and Bourse is a belle époque paradise of grand boulevards, refined arcades, and mass-market art-nouveau entertainment. Here, modern day workers continue to take advantage of the legacy that nobility and finance left in the 19th century. Brightly-lit brasseries, theaters, and cinemas sit side by side with French bistros predominating in one area and Japanese restaurants in another. The area is most famous for the Palais Garnier opera house and glamorous department stores.
