Excellent location, very helpful and friendly staff. I got a bottle of champagne and profiteroles for my birthday which was lovely. The highlight was the comfy bed and aircon and big bathroom. Downside was shower cap and shoe shine were missing from their boxes and not replenished the next day, and neither were the complimentary water bottles. Also the iron... More

We had an upper level hotel room for four days and had the absolute best time in Paris. The service provided by all the staff and in particular the reception staff (especially HH) was beyond expectation. We will definitely stay at The Chess Hotel when we return to Paris, whenever that may be in the future.

Pros: 1) Great staff - the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. 2) Great location - located on a quiet side street just a few minutes walk from two Metro stops (Opera and Chaussée d'Antin - La Fayette), the Palais Garnier opera house, Printemps and Galeries Lafayette. 3) Great breakfast - many options, very fresh and tasty (pastries, fresh and... We really liked this hotel. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The room service breakfast was delicious and not overly expensive. Theroom was modern and spotless. Price was reasonably for the quality and location. Oh, and they had newer wood (well, fairly convincing faux wood anyway) floors.

My husband and I went on a "sans kid" trip in June 2015 and stayed at the Chess Hotel near the Opera. We couldn't have asked for a better experience! We stayed in the suite on the top floor, which was a true gem. It had the hotel's only view of the top of the Opera House and featured both... More

We enjoyed our stay at Chess. Rooms were not large, by clean and comfy. Welcome croissants were lovely. Included breakfast was perfect. Location was terrific. Excellent staff. Only problem is slow elevator. Leave extra time to get in ad out.

My wife and I celebrated my birthday with a two day stay at The Chess Hotel in Paris in late June. The hotel is centrally located near the Opera and the department stores (Galleries Lafayette and Printemps) of Boulevard Haussman. Rooms are modern and well equipped but on the small size, even for the centre of Paris given the price.... More

the chess hotel was a delight to stay in. Its done up very well. The rooms are tiny but very well furnished. Its squeaky clean unlike a lot of hotels in Paris and the rooms very well organized. The service is absolutely great given how it usually is in Europe. If I had to complain it would be the breakfast-... More

Dear Jasen C, Thank you so much for taking the time of sharing your experiences at The Chess Hotel with other travellers. Staying in Opera / Bourse

    Neighborhood Profile
    Opera / Bourse
The neighborhood around Opéra and Bourse is a belle époque paradise of grand boulevards, refined arcades, and mass-market art-nouveau entertainment. Here, modern day workers continue to take advantage of the legacy that nobility and finance left in the 19th century. Brightly-lit brasseries, theaters, and cinemas sit side by side with French bistros predominating in one area and Japanese restaurants in another. The area is most famous for the Palais Garnier opera house and glamorous department stores.
