My wife and I celebrated my birthday with a two day stay at The Chess Hotel in Paris in late June. The hotel is centrally located near the Opera and the department stores (Galleries Lafayette and Printemps) of Boulevard Haussman. Rooms are modern and well equipped but on the small size, even for the centre of Paris given the price.... More

the chess hotel was a delight to stay in. Its done up very well. The rooms are tiny but very well furnished. Its squeaky clean unlike a lot of hotels in Paris and the rooms very well organized. The service is absolutely great given how it usually is in Europe. If I had to complain it would be the breakfast-... More

This is the 5th time we have stayed at this hotel, It does not disappoint!! from the warm welcome when you arrive, through to the surprise when you get the bill (at how low it is!!)... it is a pleasurable experience! The hotel is very disabled friendly, the lift is large enough for a wheelchair, suitcase and carer... There are... More

Great location...minutes from Opera Garnier and Metro/Bus Lines...and very safe. Also closed to Galleries Lafayette and Printemps. Walking distance to Louvre down Boulevard Opera (15 minutes). The hotel is small but new and extremely clean. Modern fixtures and furniture. Some of the rooms are smaller than others. However with 2 people they usually put you in the larger of the... More

Located at quiet but rather safe street and only 5 mins walking to Gallery Layfayette. No lack of restaurants and cafes. For quick bites, Mac Donald is only next to the hotel! Security is somewhat good. Can only enter the hotel with the access card. However, no security personnel is at the door to ensure that no one else enters... More

I stayed here for a weekend with my boyfriend in April, and absolutely loved it. The location couldn't be better and the rooms are very well decorated (amazing beds). Best of all, there is a lovely lounge where you can relax and enjoy a cup of coffee. The breakfast is delicious.

My party of 4 were in a bind because the apartment we rented had no air conditioning or fans, and was stuffy upon arrival in Paris. We contacted the apartment management with trouble calls which went unanswered despite waiting 4 hours. Therefore, we decided to locate a hotel and abandon the apartment. I looked on HotelsTonigh.com and selected Luxury; and... More

Staying in Opera / Bourse

Neighborhood Profile
Opera / Bourse
The neighborhood around Opéra and Bourse is a belle époque paradise of grand boulevards, refined arcades, and mass-market art-nouveau entertainment. Here, modern day workers continue to take advantage of the legacy that nobility and finance left in the 19th century. Brightly-lit brasseries, theaters, and cinemas sit side by side with French bistros predominating in one area and Japanese restaurants in another. The area is most famous for the Palais Garnier opera house and glamorous department stores.
