Bit of a language barrier on checking in but all friendly and worked it out. The place is fine and clean and we knew there was no room toilet before booking. It worked out of but the single communal shared toilet at the end of the corridor although always clean was very small. The best thing about the place was... More

My husband and I stayed here because of the location and price. We wanted something cheap. Great location! First two nights we were given a three person room when we paid for a two person room, on the top floor and thankfully we had a private toilet and shower. Decent sized room, very basic and very hard bed with one... More

We were staying here three nights as a good base for exploring Paris. Besides disinterested staff, you get a shared toilet, hard beds and to listen to all the talks of your fellow travellers in the other rooms. A shower was in our room and the rooms furnishment was rather sparse (which made the room spacious). However, when travelling to... More

The hotel is in an excellent location - right opposite the Jardin du Luxembourg, and a five minute walk from Metro tube station. It is also within walking distance of a number of good restaurants and bars. The room itself was decent, pretty big considering the price. However, the shower is tiny, and seems to have been built for a... More

Stayed at this hotel for 2 nights in May 2014. The hotel is pretty much as other people describe it: It's an old converted Paris apartment building. So it will appeal for someone looking for an authentic Parisian experience away from chain hotels. It has many pros: The location is excellent, the price is very good and it's relatively quiet... We have stayed here for one night, just oppisite the Luxemburg gardens, about 15 minutes walking from RER Luxembourg station. I was very alarmed by some review, but can't understand them. The location is just wonderful, not in noisy centre, but in very Parisian quite side in 6th district, easy for access from CDG. View from little balcony was wonderful.... More

This is not a chain hotel (hurrah!). If you are looking for staff in uniforms, don't stay here. These are rooms in a residence - basically someone's house. I love the personal touches and informality - if you are a Grinch looking for a 5* room put your hand in your pocket and stay somewhere else! You don't get something... More

Good place to stay for a budget trip in a good location. However, the rooms are equipped with old furniture that barely holds together and the shower is tiny. Everything squeeks. It's quite clean from what I can tell but the walls need repainting. For certain travellers only.

Well, it started off ok. We arrived outside the place which is located right opposite the Luxembourg Gardens. It is about a 25 minute walk to the Eiffel Tower and 10-15mins walk to Louvre. Most other things would require the metro or a VERY long walk. The 'hotel' didn't really have any signs to say it was there and even... More

Staying in Saint-Germain-des-Pres

Neighborhood Profile
Saint-Germain-des-Pres
In Saint-Germain-des-Prés, life is effortlessly chic and all things are beautiful. The main boulevard is dotted with famed terraced cafés, haut-couture shops, ivy-covered railings and fine-dining restaurants. Antique dealers and art galleries surround the fine art school and small museums hide in unassuming squares. The neighborhood’s namesake church is the oldest in Paris and is the backdrop for talented musicians every weekend. The Luxembourg Gardens house the national senate, splendid lawns and flourishing flower beds. Famous faces and bourgeois Parisians frequent Saint Germain accompanied by the students of Rue Saint Guillaume and Rue des Saints-Pères. This is a neighborhood where afternoon people-watching from a café or playing cards in a brasserie are a key part of the daily fabric.
