We arrived to a nice receptionist then after clambering up three flights if stairs, opened the door still holding the door knob in my hand, the wardrobe was hopeless, only one hanger, and a screwed up blanket inside, the bathroom, glass door never fitted the frame leaving the door slightly open. Then after looking for the cups for a drink... More

Location of this little hotel is excellent - just off the Arc de Triomphe, and the salubrious Ave Foch. You can walk to all the major tourist sights from here. The area itself is quiet, with relatively fewer restaurants in close vicinity, though in Paris you are never far from food and drink and I found a lovely little corner... More

I have twice stayed at the Hotel residence Chalgrin. When I return to Paris I will stay again. Their location is perfect - close to the Arc de Triomphe and easy access from CDG airport using the Air France shuttle bus. They are also very close to the subway. The staff has always been friendly and helpful and the property... More

This hotel has a great location and is just a stones throw from the Arc de Triomphe, the metro, and convinient to many of the sites to visit in Paris. On arrival we found out however there was no elevator, no porter, and the front desk person was not willing to assist with the luggage after giving us a room... More

When we arrived the person at the front desk was unwilling to help us with our luggage (no lift is available in this hotel). We were given a room on the 4th floor with an horrible bathroom where the privacy was inadequate. We found out later that the balcony was actually shared with another room.We thought we would get what was advertised... I stayed in this hotel for almost a week when at a congress inparis. The hotel is well located, with a 10 min walk to palais de congress and even less to the subway. I got the room which was located at the reception desk, next to the exit. This was a bit awkward, but it was less annoying then... More

This is an excellent little hotel, well located just minutes from the Arc de Triomphe. The closest metro is Argentine, which is on the same line as the Place de La Concorde, Tuileries, Rivoli and the Louvre - so this is also very convenient for first time visitors. Rooms are comfortable and the breakfast is excellent. My only criticism was... More

I have stayed at Chalgrin three times, and I am going back there again. Prices are more than reasonable, It is a quiet hotel, and the staff is friendly. Rooms are good, but chose a double room, even if you are traveling alone. They are quite small.

I first stayed at the Residence Chalgrin in 1999 and this was my sixth visit. I have always found the staff friendly and helpful. The 'creepy looking man' described by Donstallione is, I would guess, a stroke victim who has limited facial mobility and requires the aid of a stick to walk. The great thing about the Chalgrin is that... More

Neighborhood Profile
This area is characterized by its namesake avenue which extends northwest from the Louvre to the modern business district, punctuated by the iconic Arc de Triomphe. Grand embassies stand among impressive offices and presidential palaces; architecture from 19th century Universal Exhibitions, homes, art galleries, and 19th century streets designed by Baron Haussmann flank haute-couture boutiques. This neighborhood never rests, buzzing with visitors from around the world at all times of day and night, all within a stone's throw of the Seine.
