The area is a good one. Good connections to the center. The place is small, but cozy. It's worth the money, and the staff are friendly... I stayed for a couple of nights there, it's clean, and affordable. I recommend it!

This is where we stay in Paris when we're being frugal, even though the neighborhood is not very exciting. The people at the desk are friendly and helpful, and the rooms are clean. (Yes, they are small.) Breakfast is a little disappointing -- you get a tartine (bread) instead of a croissant, but you can easily walk to the rue... More

We checked in after a long flight and were ready to sleep. Unfortunately there was loud construction happening on the floor beneath us. When we complained, they said, "We are allowed to make noise." I'm sorry, but aren't we allowed to sleep in the room we paid good money for? If you want a noisy hotel and a staff that... More

Hotels in Paris are tricky to pick, and also expensive in comparison to other european major cities. So far, Petit is the best cost/benefit ratio I found.

Staying in Montparnasse

Neighborhood Profile
The namesake tower of Montparnasse dominates over the landscape but the fun part is the throbbing life that goes on below it. Bright lights, busy cinemas, brasseries and diners encompass hidden museums and parks to entertain the masses. Long avenues lead away from the tower to take you to unsuspecting places and historical monuments and treasures. In between lie adorable ivy-covered houses with beams and small gardens to match. Just a short metro ride away from the center of Paris this neighborhood has something for every hour of the day.
