I stayed at Absolute two nights, once in a tiny but adequate single room with bath, once in the dorm-style place with three other women. The primary plus is the location, near but not on Republique with metro and a full range of food options in restaurants of every ethnicity and a grocery; the second is the secure feeling. Multi-lingual... More

We stayed here for two nights on our visit to paris. We stayed private room with in suite bath. The room is small and bathroom is even smaller. The place is in a food location. Staff was friendly and the atmosphere was good. The place is a little run down but still got great amenities. They refreshed our towels and... More

Stayed four nights in a 4 bed, female dorm with private bathroom. The room was very small, as is normal for Paris, but when you can't fit all the luggage in the room comfortably, that's perhaps a little too small. The room was poorly lit with three wall sconces with low wattage globes, of which only two worked. As the... More

We stayed in a private double on the second floor with an en suite bathroom for two nights. The window looked onto an internal court yard. The location couldn't be better, with Republique metro station around the corner, by Belleville and close to really cool bars. The place had wifi which worked well. The staff was nice and friendly, but the... More

I stayed here for one week one week on my move to Paris. Location was great for me as it was near work, but for tourists it is near Republique metro and from there you can get anywhere. Rooms are small, beds comfy. Shower SO small in room 26, I couldn't move around very easily to wash my hair. Shower... More

The rooms are neat and clean and the staffs are very friendly. But it was located on the busy road, due to that there is little distribution. Poor wifi. During our stay we had breakfast for three days and it was very nice other than we don’t have any ideas about lunch and dinner.

Went with a group of friends, about 12 of us in total and they managed to accommodate us all, with four to a room in bunk beds. Everything was alright and the bathrooms werr very smart. It is in a good location. My only qualms really was that the breakfast selection was a bit poor, the staff could be a... More

The Hostel is located in a nice zone of Paris not near the main attractions but it's 3 blocks away from the Republique Metropolitan station so it's easy to get from almost every part of the City. I've stayed there in a room of 4 for 5 days. The room, like almost every hostel, are just big enough to live... More

I stayed in the Absolute Hotel/Hostel for two nights. It's in a great location near Place de la Republique, which has a metro station beneath the square. Although cramped, Absolute serves its purpose well. I stayed in a six person room facing the street. We could hear other guests through the thin walls, but the street noise did not hinder... More

Staying in Canal Saint-Martin

Neighborhood Profile
Canal Saint-Martin
The tree-lined Canal Saint-Martin is the focal point of one of the most romantic and hip areas of Paris. Watch boats travel along the canal while lovers and friends take in the atmosphere from the banks or the bridges. Evenings see hoards fill the embankments to drink wine and enjoy good company. The colder days lead people to hipster bars, cozy restaurants, and concert spaces. Those who are more adventurous may explore hidden gems down nearby streets, from local bars to futuristic architecture. With its enriching mix of people of all ages and backgrounds, this neighborhood has a dynamic, inspiring vibe.
