My daughters and I went to Paris and shared a family room at this hotel. It was cheap and you get what you pay for! We were really squashed and barely slept for the three nights we were there. Contrary to guide book advice, the breakfast was good value. But the general lack of communal space and the total squash... More

I stayed in this hotel for one night because of it’s proximity to a gallery opening that I was attending. It’s a simple, small neighbourhood hotel the like of which one can find all over western Europe. There are really no frills here. I couldn’t even find a glass in the room, which is a first. The bed was clean... More

The room was very small, dated, and a bit musty. It was an economical choice, however, so I guess you get what you pay for. The location wasn't bad, but a bit of a hike to a Metro station. It definitely isn't geared towards families. The staff was outrageously rude, though. My French is very weak, but I tried and... More

We stayed 3 nights in this hotel in Paris. We were a bit sceptical after reading some reviews but we were pleasantly surprised. A nice sized room and very nice bathroom, with bath which I love. The area borders the Marais and Bastille and its easy walking to nice restaurants and several museums. We also walked into central Paris. There... More

Stayed 4 nights in total. Clean rooms, good location (quiet area for Paris). Pity that some reception staff is unfriendly and very slow, then you don't feel welcome. I would go for another hotel in future with staff which is happy to see you as a guest...

I just stayed here for a week in July. It's in a great spot just a few minutes walk from the Place de Vosges, the Marais, and Place de la Bastilles….It's a nice location also because despite being located centrally (if there is such a thing in Paris) it's on a quiet street so there's no nasty traffic at night.... I have used this hotel a few times. It is near the Marais and some good food options. However, it is now getting quite expensive for the size of the rooms. There are better options nearby and I will be using these in future. Staff are friendly and helpful, but management lets them down. Don't even expect them to answer... More

Only stayed for 2 nights, wasn't expecting much. It was clean. The room a bit small but it was ok because we only stayed for 2 nights so we had small suitcases - the important thing to us was we were happy it was clean and the bathroom too. I'd say the location its not tooo bad I guess because... More

Three of us recently stayed here for two nights. The location was in what appeared to be a "non-residential" area. The streets were empty after dark. The room was so small. In order to walk around, we needed to place our suitcases on the beds. The bathroom was also tiny. The rooms were clean. The staff was mediocre. I would... More

Staying in Bastille / Oberkampf

Neighborhood Profile
Bastille / Oberkampf
Bastille and Oberkampf are lively parts of town made for entertainment. During the day rows of unassuming bars welcome customers for a bite or a drink, but it’s at night this area really comes to life. Students and young professionals fill the busy bars around Bastille and Oberkampf. At Place de la Bastille, crowds flock to the Opéra Bastille in the evening and groups wait for coveted tickets during the day. Towards Republique, skateboarders practice their tricks while others chill out at the square. If you’re looking for late-night revelry, this is your neighborhood.
