This is a 3 star hotel in the Marais away from the expensive more tourist areas. It is a more residential area and thus has many small restaurants serving great food at reasonable prices and yet is very close to the Bastille and Rue de Rivoli and Place de Vosges. The metro was 2 minutes away (Chemin Vert) and the... More

Three star places do not need to be bad. This place is baaaad. It is bad by European standards. It is terrible by North American standards. Rooms, linens, bathroom- front desk service. And kitchen! Week old stale bread camouflaged as Continental breakfast for 7 Euros served by the maid while vacuuming the adjoining floors. Do yourself a favour and stay... More

The hotel is clean and located in a nice part of Paris, close to the metro, shopping, etc. it's a small hotel and the elevator briefly decided to not work while I was attempting to get my luggage out to the car, but the staff is very accommodating and the prices reasonable for Paris. I've stayed there on two trips.... More

The hotel was run by a rude manager in the daytime, and a temp guy the night with the main and only task given to move the massive cart full of bed sheets into the truck waiting outside. I stayed since I saw the large discount, only to know that discounts are given with a reason. I think the manager... More

My daughters and I went to Paris and shared a family room at this hotel. It was cheap and you get what you pay for! We were really squashed and barely slept for the three nights we were there. Contrary to guide book advice, the breakfast was good value. But the general lack of communal space and the total squash... More

I stayed in this hotel for one night because of it’s proximity to a gallery opening that I was attending. It’s a simple, small neighbourhood hotel the like of which one can find all over western Europe. There are really no frills here. I couldn’t even find a glass in the room, which is a first. The bed was clean... More

The room was very small, dated, and a bit musty. It was an economical choice, however, so I guess you get what you pay for. The location wasn't bad, but a bit of a hike to a Metro station. It definitely isn't geared towards families. The staff was outrageously rude, though. My French is very weak, but I tried and... More

We stayed 3 nights in this hotel in Paris. We were a bit sceptical after reading some reviews but we were pleasantly surprised. A nice sized room and very nice bathroom, with bath which I love. The area borders the Marais and Bastille and its easy walking to nice restaurants and several museums. We also walked into central Paris. There... More

Stayed 4 nights in total. Clean rooms, good location (quiet area for Paris). Pity that some reception staff is unfriendly and very slow, then you don't feel welcome. I would go for another hotel in future with staff which is happy to see you as a guest...

I just stayed here for a week in July. It's in a great spot just a few minutes walk from the Place de Vosges, the Marais, and Place de la Bastilles….It's a nice location also because despite being located centrally (if there is such a thing in Paris) it's on a quiet street so there's no nasty traffic at night.... Staying in Bastille / Oberkampf

Neighborhood Profile
Bastille / Oberkampf
Bastille and Oberkampf are lively parts of town made for entertainment. During the day rows of unassuming bars welcome customers for a bite or a drink, but it’s at night this area really comes to life. Students and young professionals fill the busy bars around Bastille and Oberkampf. At Place de la Bastille, crowds flock to the Opéra Bastille in the evening and groups wait for coveted tickets during the day. Towards Republique, skateboarders practice their tricks while others chill out at the square. If you’re looking for late-night revelry, this is your neighborhood.
