The location is great and given our taste for modern/chic decor, this hotel seemed like a great fit. But we had two terrible experiences during our short stay of three nights. First - Upon check in, we were placed in a tiny room...tinier than we've ever experienced before in Paris at this price point. But, hey, that's Paris, that could... More

This hotel is well located but the rooms are small. The lift states that it is for four people but don't believe it. It is a squeeze, but we had four people in the lift with no luggage. It went up to the floors but would not open the doors. It got stuffy very quickly and stressed two claustrophobic passengers.

We stated here for a few nights - welcome was warm, rooms decorated a la Jackson Pollock but not over the top. Our room was small but had all that was needed including a comforab le settee. Bathroom - shower minute but manageable. Breakfast room also small but buffet acceptable. Very central.

Nice, modern hotel very well located. Staff is friendly and helpfull. We asked for a shuttle to the airport and the service provided was cheap and efficient. Wi fi was great. One of the best locations in Paris, next to the main attractions and shops. Rooms were small but comfortable. Elevator was very small, and usually took a lot of... More

This hotel was well located for the shops such as Au Printemps and Galleries Lafayette. It was quite small but recently renovated. We took a top floor suite which was a good size and comfortable with a well appointed bathroom. One minor gripe: there was a sofa bed in the room so we thought it was a bit unnecessary, given... The Chavanel is nicely appointed and although the rooms are small, they are comfortable. Breakfast at 20 euros a head is not cheap but the range of food is good and the coffee freshly brewed for each customer. The room was reasonably quiet despite facing the busy rue Tronchet. The separate toilet and bathroom is a slightly clumsy arrangement but... More

We enjoyed our stay at hotel Chavanel. The staff was very helpful, nice and accommodating. They always welcomed us with a smile and happily helped us with direction and transportation. The rooms are, not surprisingly for Paris Hotel, small but very affectively arranged so that you won't feel too crowded. The design of the room is beautiful and peaceful. It... More

The Hotel Chavanel is a little oasis in the heart of Paris. The owners recently redecorated the entire place and it's incredible. No detail was missed and it shows. The hotel is located in a great area of Paris and close to everything. The front staff is very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend the Hotel Chavanel.

My wife an I stayed here last month from April 10-14. We got one of the bigger rooms on the first floor. Initially my concern was it might be noisy being close to the street. Not at all. The area is very quiet with a lot of nice little stores around the Hotel. The hi end shopping streets are also... More

Staying in Opera / Bourse

Neighborhood Profile
Opera / Bourse
The neighborhood around Opéra and Bourse is a belle époque paradise of grand boulevards, refined arcades, and mass-market art-nouveau entertainment. Here, modern day workers continue to take advantage of the legacy that nobility and finance left in the 19th century. Brightly-lit brasseries, theaters, and cinemas sit side by side with French bistros predominating in one area and Japanese restaurants in another. The area is most famous for the Palais Garnier opera house and glamorous department stores.
