The hotel is a lovely small hotel across the street from the Luxembourg Gardens. The location is great - it is walking distance to the Seine and Lourve in one direction and in the other there are all of the fantastic restaurants along Montparnasse. All the rooms are moderately sized (particularly for Paris). There was free wifi in all of... More

Dear hotsyd22, Thank you for taking time to share your comments about your recent stay with us. Your loyalty is of great value to us: we were delighted that you, once again, enjoyed staying at the Observatoire. As you did mention, the hotel is located between Saint Michel and Montparnasse. Saint Michel is more of a historic district where you... More

My wife and I spent three nights here over a wet December week-end. We chose a Deluxe Room overlooking the gardens of the Institute for Young Deaf People. Our tariff included the mini bar which was topped up daily. The room was typically small for Paris but tastefully furnished and comfortable with good sized bathroom and shower. Our only criticism... Stayed here for 2 nights on mini-moon after our wedding. Scaffolding on the outside if building was being constructed and awoke us in the morning. Complained to the hotel and was immediately moved, with offer of free breakfast. Returned to ice bucket with champagne and a tray of delicious macaroons in return. Seriously lovely staff - rooms bit small but... More

First, I need to clarify that this is not the hotel I booked for the final Paris leg of this journey. I had originally booked Hotel Jardin Le Brea, but upon arrival, we discovered the hotel full. The very nice lady at reception found the reservation but had to admit it was never entered into the system. So she called... More

Stayed four night June 2014. Rooms were small but nicely decorated and the staff were all very professional and kind. Located a 5 minute walk from the Luxembourg Gardens, it's a nice location for the area but you do have to travel further out to see the main sights, however, there is a metro stop right across the street. It... More

We stayed December 26 through December 29 and had a wonderful time. The hotel decor is lovely, the staff was very friendly and helpful. We found the room to be clean and well-equipped, the bathroom was small but easily accessible - nice strong shower. Really, really liked this hotel. I'm giving it 4 stars, but it's much closer to a 5-star than a 3-star. Rooms were good, people who worked there were super nice and super helpful. I spoke to them in French, but my mom also stayed there and was fine with just English. I stayed there for the better part of a... More

My husband and I stayed for 3 nights from 4th December to 2nd January. The hotel is very nice, rooms are small but have everything needed for a short break. Wardrobe space could have been bigger but most was made of a small area. Bathrooms are well equipped and the shower was very powerful and nice and hot. The bed... More

My husband and I spent over a year researching a perfect Christmas stay in Paris. We started with the hotel. We stumbled upon Hotel Observatoire Luxembourg since we were looking for a hotel with an eatery in the 5th/6th arrondissement. A bijoux gem of a hotel, Great staff, friendly and helpful. Every request accommodated. Rooms were clean and characterful. Anyone interested in Hemingway, this is his area and mentioned in many of the walks written on him. Highly recommend

Staying in Quartier Latin

Neighborhood Profile
Quartier Latin
The Latin Quarter bursts with intellectual life, architectural splendor and ongoing merriment. The small streets are filled with classical buildings, student bars and lively eateries while the squares are dominated by historic monuments. The area is defined by the 800-year-old Sorbonne University, where Latin once prevailed, and is famous for the Pantheon which celebrates the great men and women of France. During the day students rush from classes to the library and intellectuals people watch from the terraced cafés. As night time falls the surrounding establishments fill up and the merriment really begins. The liveliest parts are around Rue Mouffetard, lined with crêperies and international street food eateries, and Place de la Contrescarpe characterised by terraced brasseries, this neighborhood provides real nourishment for the mind, belly, and soul.
