This is the best location for the Lourve, Orsay, Notre Dame, etc. It is only a couple blocks from the Seine and less than 15 minute walk to the Lourve. We went every day during our 5 nite stay at this hotel. The rooms are larger than I expected and the bathroom is large with. We had two rooms as... More

As far as my experience goes most hotel rooms in Paris are verging on the small side (except suites of course), so no surprises there. But rooms have all been refurbished recently, so they're fresh and tidy, ours was on the 3rd floor and up there the wifi wasn't really performing greatly, minor issue though. Heating control was working fine,... More

This is great hotel - in a special location with Boulevard St Germaine just around the corner. So many great restaurants and bars to choose from including places such as Les Deux Magots brimmed full of history. Hotel rooms newly refurbished but they are small - hotel still shrouded in scaffolding and builders fabric so hotel room a bit gloomy... More

We have enjoyed this hotel for over 5 years now, and they just renovated it. The upgrade to the electric gave easy access to plugs for charging devices, and great lighting. The bathrooms have a lot of counter space, now, too. The staff, Patricia and her Team are amazing--kind, gracious, makes us feel like friends, not just visitors. The location... More

Newly refurbished room: and beautifully so. BEDROOM Small, but standard for Paris. Very well designed space, so enough room for luggage and everything needed. Including a small safe and mini bar and limited hanging space. Bed very comfortable, air con didn't seem to react to anything I changed on it so not sure if centrally controlled. Temperature fine during my... More

I stayed in this for 3 nights during the IPAG conference. The location is ideal, staff is very courteous and helpful. Rooms are smaller but it is good compromise for location. The hotel is under renovation and there was a smell of paint. I hope it will will fad away once the renovation work is done.

We stayed recently for two nights in a standard room. The room was lovely although very small (we kept falling over our luggage), but the comfortable bed and large shower in the bathroom made up for it. Everything was very clean. The only thing we couldn't get to work was the air conditioning (not sure it was connected). As everyone... More

We recently had the pleasure of staying at this newly renovated hotel and had a great first welcome to paris. All staff were super friendly with lessons in French language each time we arrived and left the hotel. Waking up to their breads at breakfast was better than waking up beside miss universe. So close to everything this hotel is... More

Great place to stay, accommodated three of us comfortably; when we checked in we were told they upgraded us to jr. suite, which was perfect. Comfortable, with excellent location; clean; great staff; great amenities. Loved the non-carpeted floor in bedroom. Renovations did not impact our stay and we can only imagine how it will be once they are complete. We... More

Having read some of the earlier reviews regarding the ongoing construction work at the hotel I was a little nervous for our arrival! However I was very pleasantly surprised, the hotel was lovely, very nicely decorated and most importantly clean! The staff at the front desk were polite and very helpful in advising us of the best places to visit... More

Dear Gemma, Thank you so much for taking time to share your nice experience at Academie Hotel St Germain. As you mentionned, our renovation had no incidence on your stay. We were closed for several weeks untill 1st of August. 2014. During this long period we managed our building strong restructuration and the remodeling of our rooms. Today, this is... More

Staying in Saint-Germain-des-Pres

Neighborhood Profile
Saint-Germain-des-Pres
In Saint-Germain-des-Prés, life is effortlessly chic and all things are beautiful. The main boulevard is dotted with famed terraced cafés, haut-couture shops, ivy-covered railings and fine-dining restaurants. Antique dealers and art galleries surround the fine art school and small museums hide in unassuming squares. The neighborhood’s namesake church is the oldest in Paris and is the backdrop for talented musicians every weekend. The Luxembourg Gardens house the national senate, splendid lawns and flourishing flower beds. Famous faces and bourgeois Parisians frequent Saint Germain accompanied by the students of Rue Saint Guillaume and Rue des Saints-Pères. This is a neighborhood where afternoon people-watching from a café or playing cards in a brasserie are a key part of the daily fabric.
