The location is superb. We needed a quiet hotel close to the Grand Palais for the Monet exhibition, in early January. La Sanguine provided small comfortable rooms. They were also cosy and warm. Stairs are not a problem for us, so the absence of a lift is not an issue. The staff were very helpful and their excellent English made... More

We stayed only one night at La Sanguine and loved it. The 8th Arrondissement area is quite upmarket, and perfectly situated for having a good look around Paris. The manager, Jean-Patrick, was charming and took all our bags upstairs without hesitating. He was also a very amusing man, and his English is probably better than mine. The rooms are small,... More

I went to Paris with 3 other friends for holiday and we stayed here. Let me summarize my review in point form as follow: - The staff are amazing. They are very nice, informative, helpful and accomodating - The hotel is located walking distance from metro (either Madeleine station, or Concorde station) - There are many great cafes and restaurants... The hotel is situated on a quiet side street, so sleeping was no problem! It was easy to find and to walk to from Madeline underground. The location is great as it is very central, and you can walk to Le Louvre as well! What really made my stay was the staff. The were lovely to talk to and put... More

I stayed at La Sanguine because of flight cancellations due to the volcano in Iceland! My colleague was staying here, and the hotel was more than happy to accomodate both myself and another colleague while we looked for a way to get back to the UK. The staff were excellent-they were friendly and very sympathetic and tried to help us... More

We would always stay at this hotel, having had multiple stays here already. The staff are so so friendly, we travelled with 2 other couples and were totally satisfied with our rooms, we are under no illusions as to the size of hotel rooms in Paris, or anywhere else in Europe for that matter, so the room size was not... Brilliant location, Place De Madelaine, you can walk to most things or the Madelaine train station is about 150mtrs from this hotel. The rail system in Paris is fantastic and very inexpensive. Now the Hotel La Sanguine, it is a small boutique hotel, no lift no lounge area and you eat a boutique breakfast in the small reception area, breakfast consists... More

I travel to Europe 3 or 4 times a year on business & when in Paris normally stay at the Hyatt Madeleine (which incidently, is a great choice). On my most recent stay in Paris, I had a free weekend prior to my flight back to Sydney & so as I was paying & travelling by myself, decided to find... More

We have stayed at La Sanguine exclusively for the past 8 years, having had 2 bad experiences when they were full. I have also recommended this hotel to friends & family, they fell in love also. Yes, the rooms are small (this is Paris), but the owners & their daughter are so wonderful, & the rooms so spotless, we couldn't... More

We have just returned from a comfortable 3 night stay at this hotel. All the staff speak excellent English and are very welcoming and helpful. Breakfast is delicious with homemade jam cooked on the premises. Rooms have air conditioning & those at the front of the hotel are larger. The hotel is wonderfully situated for both Madelaine & Concorde metro... More

Neighborhood Profile
This area is characterized by its namesake avenue which extends northwest from the Louvre to the modern business district, punctuated by the iconic Arc de Triomphe. Grand embassies stand among impressive offices and presidential palaces; architecture from 19th century Universal Exhibitions, homes, art galleries, and 19th century streets designed by Baron Haussmann flank haute-couture boutiques. This neighborhood never rests, buzzing with visitors from around the world at all times of day and night, all within a stone's throw of the Seine.
