My boyfriend and I stayed at Hotel de la Sorbonne for two nights in May. It was our first time in Paris and we already can't wait to go back! I recently became a travel agent and during training was informed that even though many tourists book hotels near the Champs Elysees or Opera, the 5th and 6th districts (Latin... More

Under construction. Dusty (can't open your windows in front) and loud. We arrived and moved from a street room to a courtyard room in order to avoid as much noise and dust as possible. Courtyard rooms are micro rooms. I don't know HOW they can still classify these rooms as "superior". Nice decor, but the bathroom was as if it... More

Although a little pricey, this hotel worked out well. My husband and I stayed there recently and enjoyed our stay. Three blocks from an RER station( that connected to most metro stations), and very close to the Latin Quarter. This location is especially good if you're a younger couple like us. We found ourselves drinking wine to the wee hours!... More

We stayed here for 2 nights Sat/Sun (24th/25th May) at a cost of €160 per night for a Superior room. My heart sank when I turned the corner from Place de la Sorbonne and saw that the whole façade of the hotel was under scaffold. When we arrived at midday on Saturday, there were still workmen in the reception area... More

We stayed at the Sorbonne in mid May and the renovations were still ongoing. They did not have a breakfast room and there was lot of painting going on. After reading the reviews on here I checked we had been given a renovated room with the hotel and and they moved us into one so I would recommend checking before... More

if the hotel was not under such extensive renovation at the time of our stay, i would rate it as 'excellent'. we wish the website would have provided more honesty and details about the current state of renovation; during our stay the entire lobby, breakfast room, and facade were being renovated. the noise was not terribly disturbing, but some compensation... The hotel is under reconstruction, beware workman and scaffoldingevery where, not mentioned w hen booking. The other valid point is a total lack of fire safety - if this hotel ever has a fire you are toast!

We needed a hotel in Paris, near an RER line to CDG airport, and this hotel was perfect. The rate was 81 euros for the night. Upon arrival the clerk told us first in French and then in English that our room was not ready but for 25 euros we could upgrade to a ready room. She looked further and... More

Have recently returned from a four day stopover in Paris and loved this hotel. It is well located, close to the Luxembourg and Odeon metro stops, and is (as the name implies) directly across from the Sorbonne. My room was generous in size, nicely decorated and quiet. As a single female, I also felt safe in this hotel and the... More

We booked this hotel for two reasons, firstly because it looked great on the website and secondly because we love the area in which it is located. It was also our wedding anniversary during our stay which made it extra special. Our room was beautifully decorated and very comfortable. All of the hotel staff were helpful, friendly as well as... Staying in Quartier Latin

Neighborhood Profile
Quartier Latin
The Latin Quarter bursts with intellectual life, architectural splendor and ongoing merriment. The small streets are filled with classical buildings, student bars and lively eateries while the squares are dominated by historic monuments. The area is defined by the 800-year-old Sorbonne University, where Latin once prevailed, and is famous for the Pantheon which celebrates the great men and women of France. During the day students rush from classes to the library and intellectuals people watch from the terraced cafés. As night time falls the surrounding establishments fill up and the merriment really begins. The liveliest parts are around Rue Mouffetard, lined with crêperies and international street food eateries, and Place de la Contrescarpe characterised by terraced brasseries, this neighborhood provides real nourishment for the mind, belly, and soul.
