I think it's a nice hotel for backpackers or people who don't want to pay too much money. The room with its bathroom was small but clean. The diner room was a little bit too small also. It's quite possible that you can't sit beside your partner but beside a foreign people, because there aren't two free chairs. The staff... More

Totally avoid this hotel! The bill has to be paid in cash on arrival - even they say they take cards. While paying, the manageress hid 60 euro we had paid her with and made us pay again. Then she STOLE our time! Danger for your life......AVOID!!!

Totally avoid this hotel! The bill has to be paid in cash on arrival. Having already charged us extra for breakfast we had not ordered, the manageress hid one of the 50 euro notes we had paid her with and made us pay again. Then she STOLE us one of our PASSPORTS! Danger for your life......AVOID!!!

Avoid this hotel! The bill has to be paid in cash on arrival. Having already charged us extra for breakfast we had not ordered, the manageress hid one of the 50 euro notes we had paid her with and made us pay again. She made a great pantomime of looking for the missing note and at one point joked that... More

Dont bother with this one. Simply meeting and trying to get your room sorted with the inn-keeper Madame, will drive you nuts. When you do finally get a room (most likely not the one you booked) you will find 3 people crammed into a single room. My partners room had three single beds squashed up together - with no room... We had an enjoyable stay at the Andre Gill for an incredibly good price. Our room was small and our bathroom was tiny, but we had a lovely view of the Eiffel Tower from our window (apparantly the only room in the Hotel that does). Although the Hotel is dated, it is clean, and although on first appearances the management... More

This place is like faulty towers. Strangely the hotel seems to be proud of their 2 star rating and embraces their crappyness with pride. first here are some good points... 1: breakfst is nice 2: bathrooms are somewhat clean 3: location is excellent... lots of restaurants and supermarkets, bars, etc Now for the problems... 1; Security: the hotel states clearly... I traveled to Paris with my 14 year old daughter for the first time this year. The Andre Gill seemed like a good pick from the online research I did and the $ I had to work with. The only negative I had was finding it. It was very close to the metro, but if you dont have detailed directions... More

I booked the Hotel Andre Gill through the internet. I have to be honest, there were quite a few problems, but the inn-keeper, her daughter, and the two other staff tried their best to resolve the issues for me. Here are some of the issues I encountered: as a woman traveling alone from the USA, I was shocked by the... More

This is a cross between a hostel and a hotel. It has no common kitchen or large dorms, but has the atmosphere of a hostel. Basic but clean with very friendly and helpful staff. Perfect location - 3 minute walk to the Pigalle metro station. Half way up the hill to the Sacre Ceour. Gorgeous. So easy to get to... More

Staying in Montmartre

Neighborhood Profile
Montmartre
Montmartre is a bustling mix of cultures, colors, and styles which changes from one street to another. Ride the funicular (or, for a real workout, climb the steps) to the sublime Sacré-Coeur (Basilica of the Sacred Heart) with its inspiring view of the city. The church is surrounded by provincial streets and piano bars where tourists, artists, and street entertainers thrive. At the foot of the hill, Boulevard de Clichy features shops not intended for young audiences, while residences are scattered to the north and east. The diverse population includes a large part from the Arab-speaking world, Africa, and Turkey. It’s a corner of Paris full of life and dynamism with charms that can’t be found anywhere else.
