I stayed at the Hotel Alexandrie (formerly Tonic Hotel) for 6 nights and had a lovely time. Madame Blot is a lovely lady and will answer any question you might have. Her staff is very courteous too. The hotel is on a quiet street off the busy rue de Lyon. It's a 3-minute walk to the Gare de Lyon and... more

I have stayed at the Tonic a couple of times. It is in a fantastic location, walking distance to Bastille and on the main tourist line. However, it should not be classed as 3 star, it is 2 star at best. The rooms are small, like mos Paris hotels and it is slightly run down. I would rcomend the Hotel... more

This place is really grotty - the rooms are small and dated with horrible bedding on the beds. The TotalStay website implied that there was a jacuzzi in each room - there was a whirlpool bath, but the whirlpool didn't work.. My worst complaint about this hotel though is that my girlfriend was bitten repeatedly by insects in the bed....... more

Stayed here spring 2004, very diappionted as was sold to me as 3* and might have just scraped 2* in reality. Small room very badly furnished. Bed you would't put a dog to sleep in, smelly curtains/carpet, and awful bathroom. Everything was old, grubby and smelt bad! If you want something tidy/clean/comfortable, choose something else. I was really diappointed when... more

Stayed here in September 2004 for 3 nights, The rooms where small but reasonably clean. The best way to describe them was grubby. A lot of bad DIY was obvious. Poor tiling in the bathroom corrosion on the taps and the jets etc. A half painted wall in the bathroom. The stopper in the bath was broken. and the switch... more

I stayed here for Valentines weekend 2004. Great location, halfway between the Place de Bastille and Gare de Lyon, down a little side street. You can walk there in about 5 mins form Gare de Lyon, where there is an aiport bus for 11.5euros, which is handy. Very friendly and helpful reception staff. Rooms look cheap, and are small and... more

I stayed at the Tonic Hotel New Years Eve 2002. Although the streets outside were a little noisy after midnight, the room was very comfortable. I would stay again. (Please note: the hotel locks the front door late at night and you must ring for someone to open the door for you.) more

Travelling with a family of 5, this was a great spot, one block off the Rue de Rivoli, 2 blocks from the Louvre, 10 minutes from Notre Dame, Pompidou, Left Bank. We stayed on the top floor, room for 5, reasonable space, very quiet. Only downside was no breakfast (actually offered extra at 10 Euro per person) and faulty info... more
