The Good: The train station is just 2 mins walk Canal view Close to small shops The Bad: Really small spiral stairs - not recommended if you have big luggages No elevators/lift Rooms are small and untidy Toilets are shared It is a little scary outside when you leave early or arrive late in the hotel.

I stayed here for 2 nights with my friends, we were in a 3 bed private. The hostel is located directly opposite a metro station so that was really convenient as you need to catch trains to get anywhere from the hostel, it was just too far for us to walk. But in saying that, there was a supermarket just... More

I think it's only just me but my reservation for 12-bed mixed dorm was definitely not the best choice I've made so far. I don't really enjoy the ambience. The staff, Asanga, was very nice to me and we talked a lot about Paris. They have kitchen! The only positive value of this hotel I think, sorry to say..

To start with, the hostel is right across from the tube stop, so that was nice. Around the corner from the hostel is a great area for food and to buy groceries if you don't want to eat out. The rooms were clean, housekeeper came in every day. He did wake us up to ask if we were checking out,... More

Not recommended at all. Only if you really have to stay in Paris in a very low budget. Location is poor, in a bad-loking neighbourhood. The place is very noisy - both from outside (traffic) and inside (loud music in the lobby-bar). Wi-fe in the rooms requires extra pay (free wi-fi only in the lobby-bar, which is very noisy). The... I was there with my friends for 6 nights and 5 of them were quite good. The bar makes good impression and the staff downstairs is helpful and smiling. Our room was small and the shower was just ridiculous with totally transparent plastic doors just in front of beds with no option to cover anything. Beds were quite ok and... More

Me and a friend of mine stayed at this hostel for couple of nights in a double room and loved it! There is a spacious kitchen in the hostel and the double room wasn't bad since we had a private shower. We had a lot of fun with the manager and other fellow travelers since part of the hostel turns... More

My friends and I went backpacking around Europe and, unfortunately, this was our last stop. The hostel cost us 3 times what we paid for various hostels across Europe and it was definitely one of the worst. The dorms are clean, although they cram 14 of you into a tiny room using 3 storied bunk beds which means very little... More

Staying in Canal Saint-Martin

Neighborhood Profile
Canal Saint-Martin
The tree-lined Canal Saint-Martin is the focal point of one of the most romantic and hip areas of Paris. Watch boats travel along the canal while lovers and friends take in the atmosphere from the banks or the bridges. Evenings see hoards fill the embankments to drink wine and enjoy good company. The colder days lead people to hipster bars, cozy restaurants, and concert spaces. Those who are more adventurous may explore hidden gems down nearby streets, from local bars to futuristic architecture. With its enriching mix of people of all ages and backgrounds, this neighborhood has a dynamic, inspiring vibe.
