Returning from a trip to Germany, we needed to fly from Paris. Searching for a place to stay, few places could accommadate a family of five in one room. For this reason, we ended up at the Marignan. I am so glad we did!! The location is EXCELLENT within walking distance of everything we wanted to see (The Louvre, the... More

Perfect localization, between Avenue Montaigne and Champs Elysees. Decoration is modern, but full of violet colour everywhere (colour which I don't like at all for decoration), also in heavy curtáins and draperies. Staff is nice and rooms are spacious and comfortable. Restaurant is an edgy place filled in the evenings for dinner or cocktails.

Excellent Location. Basic clean rooms. Really friendly staff, good breakfast. Washing clothes option is wonderful. Great Paris book loan library. Monsieur Roland runs an efficient hotel is SO knowledgeable. Must be able to climb spiral staircase, so have small suitcase & make your needs known beforehand when booking. We were two 68 yr olds & a 21 yr old so 108... More

Husband, three teenagers and myself stayed in room for 5. Beds were seriously wall-to-wall. No space to walk, stand, sit, put suitcases. Sort of funny, actually. Expensive considering tiny room with no space. But great location - quiet and safe. Nice staff. Great breakfast - croissants, cheese, coffee, hot chocolate.

We stayed with our teenagers for three nights at the Hotel Marignan. The place was super clean, the breakfast convenient, and the location for Paris exploration perfect. The hotel is close to major Latin Quarter sites, city bike rental stations, and a large grocery store. We would definitely stay at the Hotel Marignan again.

Other reviewers might have oversold it slightly. It's as clean and nice as any one star, but don't kid yourself, it's a one star. That said, it was a BIG room with more space than the 4 star hotel where we had a second room. Carpet a bit worn on stairs, but nice clean flooring in bedroom. Bath is tiny... More

I stayed here with a friend in the fall & it was great. My friend had never stayed anywhere with the shower down the hall, but it was fine. One concern was that there was nowhere to hang your clothes or towel while in the shower area… not very accommodating. I also had a problem with the breakfast hostess… my... More

Stayed there 3 nights in room with shared bathroom, good hotel for young people who will spend all day out and just for sleeping be back at the hotel, very clean and nice staff...great location, in heart of Latin quarter where all restaurants and bars are. Metro station is very close. I will definitely stay again in this hotel.

Great location near Pantheon, Sorbonne, Rue St. Germain etc. Friendly, casual ambience. Roland offers you a map, transportation info and advice on what to see and do. This small hotel lets you use the fridge, microwave, computer-even the laundry. One drawback for some folks is that there's no elevator but for me I needed to lose weight anyway.

Hotel Marignan is a quaint, friendly, clean, and inexpensive spot in the Latin Quarter. There were 3 of us and we had a nice triple room with private bathroom, shared shower was right down the hall. There were some perks that made me glad I chose this hotel--free wi-fi, basic breakfast, free laundry use, free tickets for Seine boat cruise,... More

Staying in Quartier Latin

Neighborhood Profile
Quartier Latin
The Latin Quarter bursts with intellectual life, architectural splendor and ongoing merriment. The small streets are filled with classical buildings, student bars and lively eateries while the squares are dominated by historic monuments. The area is defined by the 800-year-old Sorbonne University, where Latin once prevailed, and is famous for the Pantheon which celebrates the great men and women of France. During the day students rush from classes to the library and intellectuals people watch from the terraced cafés. As night time falls the surrounding establishments fill up and the merriment really begins. The liveliest parts are around Rue Mouffetard, lined with crêperies and international street food eateries, and Place de la Contrescarpe characterised by terraced brasseries, this neighborhood provides real nourishment for the mind, belly, and soul.
