Really enjoyed our stay at the Caulaincourt, we stayed in a 5 bedroom room and it was a little crowded with 2 sets of bunkbeds and one single bed but really liked that there was a bathroom in the room as well. It isn't the closest to everything but it's not so far that you cannot walk. We were able... More

We had no trouble finding this place after we got off the metro, and what a place it was! If you think that hostels are scary or suck, think again! The front desk was warm and welcoming, emailing me back and forth multiple times before I had even arrived. I had booked one of the single private rooms, with one... More

we booked a room with 4 beds, room size was very small for 4 persons and it was congested. Our room was on ground floor, so wifi signal was poor, you will get good wifi signal only in reception and breakfast area. Breakfast was very good. Location is good, around 800 meters from metro station. sacre coeur and Moulin Rouge... More

I spent 2 nights in a 6-bed female dorm. The ho(s)tel is tucked away near Sacre Coeur and has a great ambience and a decent breakfast of croissants and coffee or tea. It has hostel amenities like a kitchen and dining and lounging areas, as well as free computers, while also having hotel style rooms. The dorm was small and... More

As a group of students, we were looking for something not too fancy, cheap and friendly. This was better than we hoped and at such a great price. The breakfast wasn't anything to brag about, but hey you're in Paris, there's plenty of other food outlets in the area, including a patisserie next door to the hostel. Central Paris is... More

The view out of the bedroom is the best bit about this hostel. My partner and I stayed on the 3rd floor and you could see across the rooftops of Montmartre which was lovely. The room however wasn't that great; small and decorated in lime green. The shower room also had a sewer smell to it. The guy on reception... More

THE WORST STAFF I’VE EVER ENCOUTERED. The owner who staffed the desk was horribly unfriendly and had no desire to help. The other man could not even speak english, which is not ok when you have clients who need help and do not speak French. Hostel staff should be friendly and willing to help, not abrupt and incredibly rude. I... More

After several nights of staying in average hostels around the continent on an inter-rail trip, The Caulaincourt Square hostel was a breath of fresh air. While we paid more for it then any of other hostels, we had always know that Paris would be more expensive, and anywhere that was cheaper had horrible reviews. The hostel is located very near... I thought that this hostel/hotel was reasonable considering the cheaper price compared to other hotels in the area. It's very conveniently located in the Montmartre area. I found the staff to be friendly, however the room was not as clean as I would expect. It was a little grimy if you looked hard, but the bed and covers were comfortable... More

This seems like a nice place from the exterior and the good location but that is where it ends, DO NOT STAY HERE! The staff, mostly the male owner, are awfully rude and very unhelpful it seems as if they don't actually want you there at all. It only gets worse as the rooms are very very poor, they are... More

Staying in Montmartre

Neighborhood Profile
Montmartre
Montmartre is a bustling mix of cultures, colors, and styles which changes from one street to another. Ride the funicular (or, for a real workout, climb the steps) to the sublime Sacré-Coeur (Basilica of the Sacred Heart) with its inspiring view of the city. The church is surrounded by provincial streets and piano bars where tourists, artists, and street entertainers thrive. At the foot of the hill, Boulevard de Clichy features shops not intended for young audiences, while residences are scattered to the north and east. The diverse population includes a large part from the Arab-speaking world, Africa, and Turkey. It’s a corner of Paris full of life and dynamism with charms that can’t be found anywhere else.
