This quaint hotel is typical of everything in Paris. It has charm and appeal, but is quite cramped for room. We were given a room on the sixth floor which is accessible by very tight stairs from the fifth floor where the tiny elevator stops. The room was very cramped and offers nothing but a bed and shower, but it... More

I loved this hotel. It is small and well-appointed. The location is excellent. We were there with our family of four, so we had two rooms. They made sure that we were beside each other, which we appreciated. We also stayed on the sixth floor, which is a little cheaper than the other floors because the elevator stops on the... More

Our travel agent made all our reservation for out trip to France and Belgium. Our first stay in Paris was the Hotel Saint-Jacques. This hotel is famous as the location of the movie Charade(1963) with Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn. Not only did it have this history but it was located in walking distance from most of Paris. The staff... More

The hotel is centrally located and close to the Metro. Rooms are comfortable and clean, but small. I found the staff to be incredibly nosy and rude. When my cousin who was staying at a different hotel stopped by to visit our room for the evening they called our room incessantly demanding that she leave. I would not return.

My daughter, granddaughter and I spent 8 days at the charming Hotel Saint Jacques and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It is a lovely boutique hotel, and our room was nice and clean, but I requested a triple room and it was very, very small for even 2 guests. I believe all of the rooms are small, but if you are... My room on the fourth floor (etage 3) overlooked rue des Ecoles. Even after midnight there was still quite bothersome noise from the roar of motorcycles and even a boisterous group singing! Of the three receptionists I encountered, the young man on the night shift was the most pleasant and helpful. The other two were not as friendly, though I... More

I love this hotel! It's friendly, clean, comfortable, well decorated, unpretentious yet professional, genuinely French. Wonderfully helpful staff accommodated our requests graciously. Good use is made of the expected small space, particularly the well designed, updated bathroom. Vibrant street, yet quiet with windows closed. Efficient, quiet AC. A real neighborhood--young, old; locals, tourists, students; useful stores, weekly markets; easy walk... More

A great small hotel located in the Latin Quarter within walking distance of Notre Dame and Pantheon and a short distance to other historical sights. The rooms are on the small side but tastefully decorated with beautiful murals and elaborate ceilings. The staff were very friendly and most helpful. The hotel doesn't serve lunch or dinner however there are many... More

I had visited Paris perhaps 10 times over the past 25 years, staying in many different areas at varying prices. Always being frugal I would look for the best hotel I could get for the $$$. With that there was always a sacrifice that had to be made for the location, room size, noise level, etc. I can tell you... More

Staying in Quartier Latin

Neighborhood Profile
Quartier Latin
The Latin Quarter bursts with intellectual life, architectural splendor and ongoing merriment. The small streets are filled with classical buildings, student bars and lively eateries while the squares are dominated by historic monuments. The area is defined by the 800-year-old Sorbonne University, where Latin once prevailed, and is famous for the Pantheon which celebrates the great men and women of France. During the day students rush from classes to the library and intellectuals people watch from the terraced cafés. As night time falls the surrounding establishments fill up and the merriment really begins. The liveliest parts are around Rue Mouffetard, lined with crêperies and international street food eateries, and Place de la Contrescarpe characterised by terraced brasseries, this neighborhood provides real nourishment for the mind, belly, and soul.
