"Charade" a movie with Cary Grant & Audrey Hepburn was filmed here quite a while back. The location is perfect if you are looking for a great hotel in the 5th. It's an older hotel but if you are looking for a romantic place this is it. There are many nice cafes and sights within walking distance and the Metro... More

Close proximity to night life (university), landmarks, the metro, shopping, history and architecture. Many choices of cuisines to select from and enjoy within walking distance of the hotel. The hotel's historic charm and accommodating service from the staff make this hotel a jewel and great value. And maybe you'll find yourself in one of the close by Cafes early in... More

My husband and I stayed at this hotel at the end of August 2014. The hotel is a short walk from Notre Dame Cathedral, so the location is very convenient. It is off the touristy path somewhat but still on quite a busy street. We found the decor of the hotel absolutely lovely. Our room was a good size by... More

Nice central location within walkable distance to most of the typical attractions. Learn the metro system and one can get around town. There is a 10-pack ticket available for ease. Stayed the 1st week in Oct for 4 nights in chamber 10, which faces rue des Ecoles. Staff was very helpful, most especially Fabienne! She was so "Parisian", always pleasant,... More

I spent one night here in September 2014, and I don’t think I’d return. I expected a small room, but the bed had a mattress which felt like a wooden plank. Breakfast mediocre. A small, but lovely lounge on the ground floor. The location is fantastic.

great hotel. we came strait from the airport by train (RER). it was very easy to get there, and the room was ready for us, even though it was early in the morning. the location is very good, nice area of bars and restaurants, a walk from Luxembourg gardens and very close to a metro station. Reception were very nice... More

Great location close to Notre Dame, Cluny, Pantheon, Sorbonne. Room was small but adequate. Nicely appointed and clean. Weather was unusually warm and the air conditioners had been turned off for the season, so the room was too warm without opening the windows, which let in the street noise. Probably typical for Paris hotels. Wi-fi required a new sign in... More

As soon as you step into the lobby you know you're in Paris: the friendly welcoming Mme., the American or Australian complaining about the size of the rooms, the lift that can accommodate a theoretical three persons as long as none has luggage and everyone knows each other. Slightly sloping steps, narrow corridors and, finally a bedroom where one has... More

I would not reccommend this hotel. The staff may seem like they care but results proved otherwise. We booked far in advance (6 months) and yet received poor rooms for our stay. We had 2 rooms for 6 nights. We had an electrical problem in one room, a bathroom sink that didn't function and the fire alarm went off because... More

Dear Mrs Fellowes, We are very sorry to hear that you do not recommend our hotel! You complain about our staff which is always doing its best to help the hotel guests, I cannot agree with what you are saying on internet. I just finished a six day stay at the Saint Jacques. The rooms are old but clean and comfortable. The staff is excellent. The street side can be noisy but that's part of being in Paris. The weather was exceptionally warm for this time of year. Our first room did not have windows that would open and the AC was... More

Staying in Quartier Latin

Neighborhood Profile
Quartier Latin
The Latin Quarter bursts with intellectual life, architectural splendor and ongoing merriment. The small streets are filled with classical buildings, student bars and lively eateries while the squares are dominated by historic monuments. The area is defined by the 800-year-old Sorbonne University, where Latin once prevailed, and is famous for the Pantheon which celebrates the great men and women of France. During the day students rush from classes to the library and intellectuals people watch from the terraced cafés. As night time falls the surrounding establishments fill up and the merriment really begins. The liveliest parts are around Rue Mouffetard, lined with crêperies and international street food eateries, and Place de la Contrescarpe characterised by terraced brasseries, this neighborhood provides real nourishment for the mind, belly, and soul.
