The location was the absolut best thing about this hotel, only 10-15 minute walk from the Louvre. We didn't eat breakfast at the hotel, but there was a nice little café just next door. The service and atmosphere was friendly and helpful. Considering the price this was a great hotel.

I must admit, I didn't realize how tiny hotel rooms would be in Paris, but who stays in their room when you're in Paris? The Hotel de Saint-Germain is a small boutique hotel that is perfect for a single traveler or a couple. My stay was perfect and I had nothing to complain about whatsoever! The bed was comfortable, the... More

Just came back from a short stay in Paris. Perfect hotel -clean and tidy. Great location just about metro and Saint Germain de Pres where you can find all restaurants. Only minus was some food smell in a room. Breakfast not included and very expensive. Not worth to pay if you can eat twice more for this same money in... More

I'm sure most hotels in Paris are like shoe boxes, so this one was pretty typical of that. The location was fantastic though and the staff were friendly. The beds were a little uncomfortable and sloped so I felt like I might fall out of bed! Apart from that everything was clean and we had all we needed.

I booked and paid in advance a room online with the request not to have to climb the stairs carrying my luggage since I am 72 years old, with serious back problems. Upon my arrival after an eleven hours long trip I was informed that they did not have the kind of accommodation I requested so I had to climb... More

Pluses: The location, the clean & modern bathroom and (thankfully) we only stayed 1 night. Minuses: Elevator not working and room allocation on 6th floor. No option but to climb the steep & narrow spiral staircase (not for feint hearted!) with our luggage. Don't be fooled by high room number - views of the city it does not have!! The... More

I want to share a terrible experience I had with this hotel this week. I booked a stay for 2 nights directly on their website, get an email confirmation. When I arrive at the hotel, my reservation was not received, hotel was full and they sent me to a one-star hotel. They refused to take any responsibility despite of recognizing... More

After travelling to Paris for over 20 years, I finally had the opportunity to take my daughter on a mother daughter trip to Paris as a high school graduation gift. I wanted to find the perfect location located close to Rue St Germain which is both central to everything and a wonderfuly quaint area to stay in. I researched many... More

My wife and I spent two nights in this small establishment over Valentine's weekend. On our return to our room on day two we discovered my case had the lock broken off it. Thankfully we had all our valuables with us and we had only left clothes in the case. When I brought this to the attention of the staff... More

I hate writing bad reviews but it's part of the whole process of sharing experiences and tips. The staff at Hotel Saint Germain was a delight, very attentive and friendly, can't complain about that. And the location is perfect, rue du Four, is just a stroll away from the lovely Latin Quarter. And the price I got online (89 euros... More

Staying in Saint-Germain-des-Pres

Neighborhood Profile
Saint-Germain-des-Pres
In Saint-Germain-des-Prés, life is effortlessly chic and all things are beautiful. The main boulevard is dotted with famed terraced cafés, haut-couture shops, ivy-covered railings and fine-dining restaurants. Antique dealers and art galleries surround the fine art school and small museums hide in unassuming squares. The neighborhood’s namesake church is the oldest in Paris and is the backdrop for talented musicians every weekend. The Luxembourg Gardens house the national senate, splendid lawns and flourishing flower beds. Famous faces and bourgeois Parisians frequent Saint Germain accompanied by the students of Rue Saint Guillaume and Rue des Saints-Pères. This is a neighborhood where afternoon people-watching from a café or playing cards in a brasserie are a key part of the daily fabric.
