The Hotel has a good location, close to the Metro stations and walking distance from Gare l'Est. Apart from this, the accomodation is quite basic and functional. The standard rooms are extremely cramped. Apart from the bed, there is no space evn to keep a suitcase. The Hotel has practically no Loby or sitting area. Lift is very slow and... more

Preface: We were looking for a place to stay for only 2 nights and this was recommended to us through a student travel agency. That should give you enough of an idea as to what to expect but I'll try to go into some detail. I regularly keep a sharp eye out for details including accessibility related issues so feel... more

Definitely one of the worst hotels I've seen in Europe (and I have seen quite a few of them). Stayed there for 20 days (big mistake). As a young (white) woman, the ghetto description seemed accurate. No way of setting a foot out of the hotel after dark. The neighborhood is terrible. The metro station is quite near, and that's... more

Hotels in Paris range from poor to average unless you are paying megabucks - but this was one of the worst places I've stayed. My room (112) was tatty above an alleyway of Indian restaurants which was very noisy until the early hours. The mousetrap under the wardrobe didn't fill me with confidence but luckily didn't have to share my... more

Romantic Paris weekend ruined. The hallway smelt like urine, the room smelt like puke. It was so bad we went out and bought as room deodoriser to mask the smell. The tiolet was an embarrasment, and was straight out of hell. The shower was broken and when you turned it on, it spun around and sprayed the whole bathroom. The... more

We were very VERY happy with our Comfort Inn accommodations. The room was small, but the bathroom was huge. There was plenty of space for our bags and clothes. The room was extremely clean and neat. The staff was very friendly and helpful, they were able to answer all of our questions (and in English too!). Breakfast was basic, and... more

When Virgin Vacations emailed to say that our hotel in Paris had been changed to the Comfort Gare de l'Est, I popped over to TripAdvisor and didn't like the reviews. Since VV then said our choice was to accept the hotel or drop the trip, we decided to give it a try, and we're glad we did. The hotel was... more

All those who are considering staying at this hotel, Comfort Gare de L`Est Hotel, this is a MUST READ. The hotel is located in the ghettos of Paris. I do not recommend staying at this hotel if you are a female traveling alone. I am used to city living, as I grew up in the ghettos of Philadelphia. Yet in... more

Well, we actually walked up from the train station so got a good look at the area on our way. I was with my boyfriend but that didn't stop a group of African guys trying to get friendly with me. The hotel was ok, really run down and not comfortable, but it was a bed for the night and we... more
