We stayed at this hotel for less than an hour. We arrived to building work - the receptionist was unbelievable - she didn't book us in, looked at a list and vaguely agreed we had booked a room, gave us a key and pointed us at the lift! On booking we didn't realise that there was no toilet in the... More

We really enjoyed Hotel Vivienne. We stayed there 4 nights over Christmas. It is very well located in the center of Paris, close to several subway stations, Opera Garner, the Louvre Museum, the "Grands Magasins" (Parisian department stores). We were travelling with our 2 sons (6 & 9) and asked for a family room: we were happily surprised by the... More

Good room, clean, comfortable and cosy. The bathroom is big and clean. Good Location. The staff was very friendly and Helpful. At night we could listen the upstairs neighbor's bed creaking, if you know what I mean. For us it was no problem, but maybe if you go with your family, it could be embarrassing. Oh they have a cat... Excellent location: 20 min walk from the Gare de l'Est and just around the corner from the Théâtre des Variétés, a number of nice bars and the Metro station. Staff is friendly and helpful and SPEAKS ENGLISH! :) The building is old, and it shows: tiny old elevator, crooked stairs, all in all not terribly stylish. Room smelled of lavender... More

Paris was our first stop on our 6 week interrail trip. We arrived at Hotel Vivienne early in the morning after catching an early eurostar. We found the receptionist very helpful on arrival, allowing us to leave our bags so we could go out for the day. When we returned later our bags had been taken to our room and... More

Stayed one night in October. They have a friendly fat cat in the lobby. Good location near grand boulevard station and with lots of eateries around. Room is decent for the price. The Chinese chefs next door like to sit on the roof to have their break, so if you're uncomfortable with people looking into your room, draw the curtains.

This hotel has great potential. It is very clean and nicely decorated. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. It is in a great location, really close to the Grands Boulevards metro station and within walking distance to the Louvre. There is a lovely little cafe on the opposite side of the street just on the corner, walking towards La... More

Thank you very much for your comment. However I really need to address two points. Firstly the windows are not thin, they are double-glazed. Nevertheless the sound proofing is not perfect as you point out and for this we apologise. We are in the process of replacing all of our windows with more efficiently sound-proofed ones which will hopefully meet... More

Hotel Vivienne is really situated not far from the city center. Good proportion between price and quality. The staff is really nice and friendly. The only issue was that the room booked online and the room provided were completely different.

Thank you for your review. We’re sorry about the apparent difference between what you received and what you booked. Do you mean that you got a room which had a shower but that you reserved a room with a bath ? Or maybe you got a twin bed instead of a double bed ? Whatever the problem please contact us... More

We stayed here over bastille day. The rooms are cosy and we had 2A and 2K in our room (which is what we wanted). The staff were incredibly helpful especially with the Metro, directions and teaching us French. We loved the experience and its close to everything as well as a supermarket around the corner. Great value, Great service. Will... More

We had a really bad stay. Rooms were very old-fashionate and looked dirt! Walls are not in bricks, you could hear every word of the conversation next-door. You can get much cleaner and higher-rated rooms for less money almost all other hotels in Paris...

Thank you for your review. We are very sorry that you did not enjoy your stay. We are always doing ongoing redecoration and improvements to our rooms. Obviously this room didn't appeal to you although I must admit that we don't usually have complaints about noise from neighbouring rooms. Nevertheless we do hope that you'll return and we'll make sure... More

Staying in Opera / Bourse

Neighborhood Profile
Opera / Bourse
The neighborhood around Opéra and Bourse is a belle époque paradise of grand boulevards, refined arcades, and mass-market art-nouveau entertainment. Here, modern day workers continue to take advantage of the legacy that nobility and finance left in the 19th century. Brightly-lit brasseries, theaters, and cinemas sit side by side with French bistros predominating in one area and Japanese restaurants in another. The area is most famous for the Palais Garnier opera house and glamorous department stores.
