I've stayed in Paris 50-60 times over the years, so I know the city well, but have rarely stayed in the 5th. The Select Hotel was a good choice, and not too expensive by Paris standards. It's immediately adjacent to a main entrance to the Sorbonne, and faces onto the Place Sorbonne which can get noisy at night. It's about... More

When we arrived we got a room on the ground floor with windows towards the street where people could look in unless you closed the curtains, which made the room very dark. The toilet had mold underneath the ring, as if the cleaners hadn't bothered to clean there for a long time (it shouldn't be too hard to reach that... More

Select is a recently renovated, mid-priced hotel off the Boulevard St Michel. There are lots of other hotels around, but Select is slightly more upmarket and very well situated. It is just beside the Sorbonne, on a square with no traffic so you don't have any noise. It is within walking distance of many of the Paris sights and there... More

This is a good friendly restaurant with reasonable prices to boot. The hotel is situated directly outside the main entrance of Le Sorbonne in the 5th, and easy walk to many places. Cafes, repertory cinemas, antique booksellers and the Luxembourg gardens are all within spitting distance of the hotel.

The location is very good. The hotel is located in front of Sorbonne. There are many bars and restaurants nearby. Saint-Germain des Pres, Pantheon is very close by foot. The room is not spacious but is comfort enough. It is unconfortable there's no shower curtain! Wifi is not very good. Wifi is not connected in my room, but connected in... More

We stayed here during New years eve and the prices were quite high. Modern rooms but really small like it is in Paris. Highly functional though. fancy lights and switches and small but really well made bathrooms. Our room didnt have a tub. The breakfast is a bummer though. They dont have a kitchen so all food stuff is procured... More

This hotel is right next door to the Sorbonne and has 3 outside/inside cafes right outside. The hotel is very well run, we had a room with two twin beds, the room was a good size, with a modern ensuite. We had breakfast there for 12 euros each on one morning during our 5 day stay. The breakfast was nicely... More

Great Hotel, really well situated in the Latin Quarter of Paris, lots of bars and restaurants close by. The only comment about the room was not being able to get any English TV channels and a bit on the small side but everything else was great.

Chose this hotel as a combination of price and location for a short break in Paris. The hotel itself is very clean, modern and well appointed; rooms are adequate rather than large; service is very efficient & friendly. Breakfast available, usual continental selection of fruit, rolls, croissants, cold meats etc., and also scrambled eggs & sausages - all very fresh... More

My husband and ah spent 6 nights in this hotel in April. We are pretty happy with our stays. I would say this hotel has a very great location surrounding by shopping and restaurants. You can easily walk to metro within 10 mins, and It is vey close to Notre Dame. The size of our room is okay. Not very... More

Staying in Quartier Latin

Neighborhood Profile
Quartier Latin
The Latin Quarter bursts with intellectual life, architectural splendor and ongoing merriment. The small streets are filled with classical buildings, student bars and lively eateries while the squares are dominated by historic monuments. The area is defined by the 800-year-old Sorbonne University, where Latin once prevailed, and is famous for the Pantheon which celebrates the great men and women of France. During the day students rush from classes to the library and intellectuals people watch from the terraced cafés. As night time falls the surrounding establishments fill up and the merriment really begins. The liveliest parts are around Rue Mouffetard, lined with crêperies and international street food eateries, and Place de la Contrescarpe characterised by terraced brasseries, this neighborhood provides real nourishment for the mind, belly, and soul.
