My wife and I just spent six nights at the Grand Hotel des Balcons. It was our second time there; it won't be our last. Since we were on their email list from our first stay, we were lucky enough to receive a special package offer (an advantageous room price, breakfast included) that prompted this most recent trip to Paris.... We've stayed here many times over the last 5 years and find it better each time. The staff is friendly and helpful, the location couldn't be better as we always go to the Luxembourg Gardens. Free Wi-Fi, a copious and tasty breakfast starting at 7am is also perfect for us.

Great location, friendly staff. View of L'Odeon up the street. We were able to walk everywhere we went (we're walkers), but the Metro is only 2 blocks away. Didn't have the breakfast during our three-night stay, but many others seemed to enjoy it. Wi-fi and other appointments hassle free. Highly recommended.

Charming, perfectly located in a small street between Saint-Germain, the Latin Quarter and Montparnasse. A short walk from the main attractions, nightlife and shopping. Good price for that area and interesting offers for autumn, Christmas and the weekend. The breakfast is very good both salty and sweet, the wi-fi is free and working well, the rooms are small but nice,... More

I just returned from a wonderful stay at the Grand Hotel des Balcons. I have stayed here on several occasions and absolutely love this small European hotel. It is located in the six arrondissement with the Odeon at the end of the short block. What makes this adorable hotel a real fine is it is very close to everything including... More

Have been staying here for years. Small-ish rooms, but very clean, at reasonable prices, on a quiet street near the Odeon and just a short walk to the Luxembourg Gardens. Great optional breakfast, free French newspapers, ice machine downstairs for drinks or just to have ice water, even umbrellas that you can borrow! Fantastic location for arriving from airport: direct... More

This hotel's location is everything if you like this neighborhood. My favorite place on earth, for what I have been lucky enough to see up to now, is the Jardin de Luxemburg, and this hotel is two blocks away for an unbelievable price. Sure there are lots of hotels around but none with these prices; they even have a nice... More

We spent two weeks in this lovely hotel. The location was perfect, with metro and bus stop very close by and lots of restaurants within walking distance. Our room was small but comfortable, and the little balcony was a nice touch. We could get lots of fresh air by opening the balcony doors. The bathroom was huge by European standards... More

My husband and I stayed here a couple of times years ago and loved it. The decor of the rooms was a bit shabby at the time, but the lobby was an Art Nouveau gem. The location was wonderful. The breakfast was fantastic. The value was excellent. And, there was a gentleman at the front desk who was only as... More

I first came across this hotel by chance and having stayed here twice now I don't think I would stay anywhere else in Paris. It's in a fantastic location, within walking distance of everywhere you might want to visit in the centre, and is 5 minutes' walk from the Metro Odeon should you wish to take the metro somewhere. It's... More

Staying in Saint-Germain-des-Pres

Neighborhood Profile
In Saint-Germain-des-Prés, life is effortlessly chic and all things are beautiful. The main boulevard is dotted with famed terraced cafés, haut-couture shops, ivy-covered railings and fine-dining restaurants. Antique dealers and art galleries surround the fine art school and small museums hide in unassuming squares. The neighborhood’s namesake church is the oldest in Paris and is the backdrop for talented musicians every weekend. The Luxembourg Gardens house the national senate, splendid lawns and flourishing flower beds. Famous faces and bourgeois Parisians frequent Saint Germain accompanied by the students of Rue Saint Guillaume and Rue des Saints-Pères. This is a neighborhood where afternoon people-watching from a café or playing cards in a brasserie are a key part of the daily fabric.
