I am so thrilled that I found this hotel! I just love Paris, and have been many times, and now that I have found this great little hotel in such an amazing location,,,,I will surely be back! So the hotel is old, but thats part of the charm...they say that its maybe a one star, or two...but the location is... more

I have wanted to stay at Hotel Esmerelda since the early '80's when I read of its charm in Let's Go France. I was recently in Paris for 5 days for a medical conference--the official meeting hotel was 300 euros per night, so I thought this would be my chance to save a bundle and fulfil my dream to stay... more

To say it has old fashioned charm doesn't really fit the bill - this place is whacky! If you expect nice clean rooms where everything works you're going to be disappointed, but if you can laugh at quirkyness you'll have a ball. Great location, bags of character and just a little bit mad. more

We stayed at this 17th century hotel and really enjoyed our time there. Now understand this is a one star hotel, so if you want thrills and amenities, this is not for you. But if you want a great located hotel at a great location, at a great price 85Euros, then this is it. When you can look outside your... more

I haven't stayed there in a long while, but I needed to let you all know that this place was a fantastic find. It's like something out of Paris of the 1700s. The rooms were small, dark, sparesly decorated-my small room opened up to a shaft, and this pigeion, a few times, would sit at my window sill, but then... more

I stayed here in 2003 for a night by recommendation of a friend. He told me that it would be a unique and rare Parisian experience to stay here. It was. The hotel looks like any of the many small and run-down places you can find all over Paris. The rooms, accessible through a staircase you would never get down... more

I brought my mother to Paris for her birthday. This hotel was a true find. Having lived in Paris, I preferred staying some place where you wake up and know where you are - rather than a typical chain hotel that looks the same everywhere. Hotel Esmeralda is right near Metro St. Michel - so we spent much time walking... more

I stayed here in 1996 for 4 days. I wasn't expecting too much. However, the ambiance and location exceeded my expectations. I never asked for a wake up call. I woke up everyday to the chimes of the Notre Dame. The views were wonderful and I loved being in the bustling, multi-cultural and colourful latin quarter. It's a great and... more

As others did I booked by phone (in french is best, their english is shaky) and confirmed by fax as requested. I then phoned up twice in the following couple of weeks (to their amusement) to check because I was was fretting that our booking would have evaporated. It hadn't and it was fine. The room - as I imagine... more
