My boyfriend and I have just returned from a 3-night stay at this hotel. On the positive side - it's in a great location (the Marais is lovely), the staff are competent (if not especially friendly), the room was clean, quite cosy and fairly quiet and you could indeed get a nice breakfast delivered to your room (on time) as... We arrived from the Gare du Nord. Taxi had no problem finding the hotel once he could understand what I was saying. We had booked a chambre de charme for 3 persons, and when we arrived in our room, there was one double bed. We immediately went downstairs to straighten out the situation and were told that a cot would... More

We recently stayed her and rented 2 rooms at the front of the hotel. The situation is very conveniant and the rooms were clean and comfortable. It is in the centre of a gay area.We didn't like the confusion over our booking. The receptionist asked us to leave mid stay as she had made an error with our booking.I had to prove that... Tiny room (#29, 3rd floor, facing the street), but beautiful. Not luxury, but personality. Nice bathroom. When Paris gets hot, the lack of aircondition is enough of a reason not to stay there, although there is a portable electric fan (or you can ask for one). Open windows could prove too noisy for some during the night, although the street... More

We stayed here for 5 nights in May..the taxi driver had a hard time findung it I would suggest you get a mapquest printout to show them. The staff is very nice and professional..great lobby...we were taken to a dark hall in the attic with low ceilings (4th floor) and we were anxious but when we got in we saw we... We just recently came back from Paris staying at Hotel de la Bretonnerie. If you are after a small character hotel in a central location then this hotel is right for you. We were travelling as a family of four, my husband, myself and two young daughters and we were very happy with our family room which by the looks... More

Good points = this hotel is located in the heart of the Marais, a beautiful neighborhood with great shops (Petit Bateau, Mariage Freres -- a wonderful tea shop, myriad others) and cafes/restaurants. Exactly what you hope Paris will be. You can spend the whole day productively without going farther than a few blocks. Service was friendly, and housekeeping was excellent.... More

We stayed here for a week in the late April, 2005. It is in the heart of the Marais district which is a great place to base your exploration of this great city. Le Marais is charming, bustling, gay, Jewish (part of it) and central. You can walk anywhere in Paris from here or take the metro if it is... More

We just returned from Paris and stayed in this hotel March 20-22. What a charming little gem! The decor is beautiful - our room had lots of toile fabrics in deep red and mustard (room 36). The bathrooms seemed to have been remodeled recently and I loved how the toilet was in one room, and the sink and tub were... More

Staying in Le Marais

Neighborhood Profile
Le Marais
The Marais is a winding maze of multi-faceted streets that beg to be explored. It bursts with small boutiques, historic buildings, cozy traditional restaurants, and hidden parks. Around each corner, you'll come across little gems of architecture spanning the centuries, from understated medieval towers to classical libraries and 17th century splendor. This neighborhood unites a rich mix of people of all ages, but it's best known for the gay scene mostly in the south and the Jewish community around Rue des Rosiers.
