Hotel was in a nice area of Paris, close to shops, restaurants and walkable to most of the sights. We were looking for somewhere budget friendly, so this is pretty much what we were expecting. People in Paris smoke everywhere, so the room smelled of smoke which bothered me at first. Our room (#4) was pretty large and also had... More

On the advice of a friend, we were very excited to book rooms at the Hotel de la Bretonnerie. When I initially wrote to them in December, I was told to write back in June to make reservations for September. However, a good friend who stays there a few times a year on business offered to secure two rooms during... More

We just returned from a 3-day stay at this lovely hotel and we enjoyed it very much. The staff is very helpful and friendly, the entrance hall is decorated with georgeous bouquets of flowers and the rooms and bathrooms are spacious and nicely decorated. We can highly recommend this hotel which - on top of it - is located near... More

We have just returned from our stay at the hotel de la Bretonnerie. It was a lovely cosy hotel. we stayed in a charming room (number 25), the room was big enough and the bathroom was also lovely and spacious! our room was in the back so it was very quiet! we didn't had breakfast at the hotel, because there... We very much enjoyed this hotel. Don't forget they have a great breakfast in the cellar for only 9 euros. The staff is tremendously nice and helpful (a maid even refused a tip). The neighborhood is one of the youngest in Paris.

This hotel is a gem! Fantastic location. We stayed a week here in one of their very reasonably priced junior suites, which I strongly recommend you go with, they’re worth the extra cost. The suite consisted of two rooms, one bedroom and one "living space", which were quite big by Parisian standards. Breakfast provided in the hotel was a basic... More

Saw this hotel scored highly on TripAdvisor so gave it a go. The location was excellent - easy walking distance to the river and Notre Dame, which is also a stop for most of the tourist busses. Staff very friendly and rooms individual and comfortable, although not particularly large. The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is our room... More

We have just returned from Hotel Bretonnerie and had a lovely time. While the room was smallish by American standards, it was very spacious and comfortable by European standards. The bathroom in particular was lovely - one reviewer noted that there is no shower curtain, but that is, again, typical of European hotels and homes. We were there in the... More

We stayed at the Bretonnerie for 9 nights in mid May, 06. This hotel has a lot going for it. The location in the Marais is great, one of the quaintest areas in Paris. There are lots of restaurants, interesting stores and bakeries. It is also very centrally located and walking distance to most of Paris. The street can be... More

We loved the hotel the first time we stayed here ('Delightful visit', 1 July 2004) so booked again for the May Day long weekend. Our 'charming room' - No. 20 on the third floor - was OK but not quite as charming as the delightful room we'd stayed in (on the 2nd floor from memory) almost two years ago. Perhaps... More

Staying in Le Marais

Neighborhood Profile
Le Marais
The Marais is a winding maze of multi-faceted streets that beg to be explored. It bursts with small boutiques, historic buildings, cozy traditional restaurants, and hidden parks. Around each corner, you'll come across little gems of architecture spanning the centuries, from understated medieval towers to classical libraries and 17th century splendor. This neighborhood unites a rich mix of people of all ages, but it's best known for the gay scene mostly in the south and the Jewish community around Rue des Rosiers.
