We stayed at Bretonnerie for three nights. I loved the neighborhood, with the variety of shops and historical sites. We were able to walk all over the place from here, partly because we were so enthusiastic about walking. The room itself had water stains on the walls. Linens and towels were very old. I got my toe caught in a... More

First of all, the location is great, walking distance to many of the most popular tourist sites. And the neighborhood ... eclectic would be too mild of a word. Lots of shops and restaurants for all types of lifestyles. The sidewalk cafes were a seeming neverending party. As far as the hotel, no complaints at all. If you have ever... More

We had gotten a recommendation to stay here on our first trip to Paris in 2005, and quickly booked a second visit when we knew we were coming back in 2007. The staff are friendly, particulary if you speak French, and the place is absolutely charming. Fabulous location for walking throughout the Marais, and even across onto Isle de la... More

Nice little hotel in an old building in the heart of the Marais, close to the Hôtel de Ville metro station. Really nice lobby, extremely friendly staff, excellent breakfast (for a good price) in the basement "cave". Walking distance to the funky stores of rue des Francs-Bourgeois and rue Vieille du Temple, Picasso Museum, Place des Vosges, the river Seine,... More

Why stay anywhere else? Bretonnerie is the perfect Parisian hotel, full of charm, gracious staff and the perfect location - close to Place de Vosges but far enough West to be walking to everywhere else. Don't stay here if you want a Starwood experience - please, you'll spoil this hotel for the rest of us. If you want Audrey Hepburn... More

A very charming hotel, located in a fantastic neighborhood, surrounded by bistros, cafes, and sweet shops. The "classic" room was small, but the bathroom was sizeable. The room and the hotel are charmingly decorated. The staff were extremely helpful. The hotel was quiet and wireless was free in the rooms.

Been there for 3 days with my husband. The location is in the center of marais close to everithing and in my opinion the best place to stay in paris. The room was lovely (and was the basic one!) with a touch of france atmosphere, loved the breakfast, and exellent price quality balance overall.

We just returned from a wonderful stay at Hotel de la Bretonnerie. We had a junior suite as we were two adults and our son. The room was absolutely quiet at night, though we were in the heart of the very lively Marais. The hotel is charming and extremely well kept. The staff is unobtrusive yet extremely helpful when needed.... More

Staying in Le Marais

Neighborhood Profile
Le Marais
The Marais is a winding maze of multi-faceted streets that beg to be explored. It bursts with small boutiques, historic buildings, cozy traditional restaurants, and hidden parks. Around each corner, you'll come across little gems of architecture spanning the centuries, from understated medieval towers to classical libraries and 17th century splendor. This neighborhood unites a rich mix of people of all ages, but it's best known for the gay scene mostly in the south and the Jewish community around Rue des Rosiers.
