Much nicer in the area for less euros. Some staff were not only unhelpful but were just rude. Ie sending you 4 flights of stairs to the wrong room with your luggage make carry it back down then back up 4 more flights to the correct room. The room was so small the only place to open your luggage was... More

As per other reviewers, the location is brilliant for exploring Paris. Our room faced the street, meaning it was constantly noisy, but we expected this staying in a city. The room was small, up several flights of stairs & the bathroom stank of damp - but it appeared to be relatively clean. If you only want a bed for the... More

I stayed here for a couple of nights in June. The location is perfect. Very close to the Louvre, the Opera district, and many of the other main attractions. There are many restaurants, pubs and bars in the area which are inexpensive and pretty lively. The metro is within a 30 second walking distance from the hotel's front door but... More

This hotel was just what we wanted! A hotel that was close to a metro station to get around Paris. Has a nice double bed, a private bathroom with shower/bath and a reasonable price too! This was perfect. Reception staff were very polite, we paid upon arrival. Room was clean. No faults. Great location near lots of little restaurants and... More

Great location in Bastille which has plenty of nightlife and cafes and restaurants. Hotel was quiet as well heard no street noise which was good. Very close to metro and a tourist bus stop. Hotel was lovely and warm which was great for us after being freezing on the open top bus and walking about all day! Bathroom was fine,... More

Felt unable to stay even for one night! Up four flights of steep stairs (with no lift) to a poky room with a tiny window onto the rooftop. Felt unsafe instantly: it was either cook in the heat or leave the window open to potential interlopers - there was no air-conditioning. There were cracks galore in the bathroom, one towel... More

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights in July. The price was fair by Paris standards, We stayed in a double room which was small. We found it hard to sleep as it was very hot and the tower fan in the room didn't seem to make any difference. We were only able to sleep when we opened the... More

We stayed here 2 nights ...June 2013. We didn't expect luxury, we just wanted a place to sleep. We are NOT fussy travelers. The temperature was hot so the first thing I did was remove the bedspread which looked shabby. Underneath was a blanket that was dirty. It had spots on it ...it hadn't been washed in ages. I pulled... More

On our way to Le Mans for the 24 hour race, we had a stop-over at Royal Bastille. The price was fair, and we (3 friends) had a quite large room (n. 102) with a great view to Place de la Bastille. The Hotel is next to a high price café, so just walk a few minutes, and you will... More

Staying in Bastille / Oberkampf

Neighborhood Profile
Bastille / Oberkampf
Bastille and Oberkampf are lively parts of town made for entertainment. During the day rows of unassuming bars welcome customers for a bite or a drink, but it’s at night this area really comes to life. Students and young professionals fill the busy bars around Bastille and Oberkampf. At Place de la Bastille, crowds flock to the Opéra Bastille in the evening and groups wait for coveted tickets during the day. Towards Republique, skateboarders practice their tricks while others chill out at the square. If you’re looking for late-night revelry, this is your neighborhood.
