This was a disappointment for my colleague and I. The place seems in need of a make-over. My bathroom was flooded and my colleague did not get his room until 6 pm. as there was a carpenter performing repairs in his room, though the reception had given him his key! The rooms were painfully small and ill equipped - and... More

This hotel is a perfect place to visit the city. The hotel is located on walking distance of Quartier Latin. In this neighbourhood you will find a place to eat/drink after a long day of visiting Paris. The room couldn't be smaller. There was a double bed, a desk, bathroom and that's it. But you should ask yourself, do I... More

As mentioned by other reviewers ,this hotel is situated in an excellent location some 10 mins walk from Notre Dame in a quiet side street overlooking the Sorbonne. The hotel is surrounded by places of interest including Musee Cluny, Jardin du Luxembourg, Musee D'Orsay and with the sights and sounds of the Left Bank all around. We walked to Pere... More

This is a comfortable, well placed, quiet and charming hotel located across the street from the famous university La Sorbonne. The Musée Cluny is just down the street as is one of our favorite classic French restaurants, Le Balzar. If you want a little balcony, ask for an even numbered room on the front or for nearly complete silence, an... More

Dear Madam, Dear Sir, Thank you very much for your compliments. Located in the heart of an historic district, it combines the charm of the Latin Quarter (a quiet scholarly and bohemia atmosphere), with that of Saint-Germain des Pres (nightlife, restaurants, shopping in the boutiques Rive Gauche). It is an intimate hotel (47 rooms) where each guest can be hosted... More

Stayed there 1 night, attending an early morning meeting in the area the next day. Was upgraded to a larger room than I booked, so I had plenty of room. Though, I consder that the bathroom does not reach the expected quality standard and breakfast was just OK.

Dear Guest, Thank you very much for your comment regarding our hotel the Mercure Paris La Sorbonne. Effectively our rooms are not so big, but in central Paris it is not easy to find space, especially in a 47 rooms hotel located in the heart of the Latin Quarter. Very Good hotel and in great area in the Latin Quarter. Lots of restaurants within walking distance and easy access to Metro. Hotel staff very helpful and would definitely go back and stay again. Only negative would be the breakfast selection could have been better.

Staying in Quartier Latin

Neighborhood Profile
Quartier Latin
The Latin Quarter bursts with intellectual life, architectural splendor and ongoing merriment. The small streets are filled with classical buildings, student bars and lively eateries while the squares are dominated by historic monuments. The area is defined by the 800-year-old Sorbonne University, where Latin once prevailed, and is famous for the Pantheon which celebrates the great men and women of France. During the day students rush from classes to the library and intellectuals people watch from the terraced cafés. As night time falls the surrounding establishments fill up and the merriment really begins. The liveliest parts are around Rue Mouffetard, lined with crêperies and international street food eateries, and Place de la Contrescarpe characterised by terraced brasseries, this neighborhood provides real nourishment for the mind, belly, and soul.
