When our group arrive, the rooms were not ready for half of us. Some of waited two hours. The room was nice, the bed comfortable and my room overlooked the street and yet it was quiet. The bathroom was odd if I had been any larger I could not have fit on the toilet in the very small space provided.... More

A very good hotel in Paris in the best possible location if you want to enjoy being in Paris. Thoroughly renovated. Nothing spectacular, but everything correct, including free wifi and complimentary bottle of water in the room. The Latin Quarter is litterally around the corner, some 100 metres from the hotel. There are many shopping possibilities in the immediate vicinity,... More

For 250 euro per night you would expect some comfort, the bathroom is so small you have to lean to the side while in the toilet due to the toilet roll. The beds are like sleeping on a hill. Breakfast is decent serving nesspresso too. The hotel is close to the Notre darme cathedral. Easy access to the university too... More

Pleasant, comfortable & well-located hotel. Helpful staff. Prices competitive. Generous beds, but rooms tight, as normal in Paris. Good aircon. Breakfast pricey, but plenty of options in neighbourhood. Stayed twice, and happy to choose again.

Is Hotel Mercure's location the same as the former Hotel Gerson? I would like to stay at the same hotel, Hotel Gerson, where I stayed for several weeks in the 1960s. The rooms on the rue had iron balconies and French doors.

Nice location, nice area. Room size: OK for dwarfs without baggage. Very good staff, very good bed, very good breakfast. Room 101: day & night sewage smell, ground floor window opening to the street, close passers by. Keep your window closed.

I had to book two last minute rooms for one night. I was fortunate to find openings at the Mercure Sorbonne location. It is centrally located to the main tourist area, very near the Cluny. Check in and out was very easy. One of our rooms was great but the other had a heavy smoke odor. We were moved to... More

This boutique hotel has very small rooms, but is in an ideal location. If you have very little luggage, this is a great place to stay. In the Sorbonne in Latin Quarter near the River Seine. Good breakfast each morning. Very helpful staff at registration desk gave maps to destinations. Reasonably priced. Very clean.

Warm, charming and ethusiastic staff. Nice caring attitude by everyone there. The very good breakfast exceeded my expectations serving organic items was overseen by one of the most enthusiastic and attentive persons I have experienced (without being overbearing). I would return here in a heartbeat.

Staying in Quartier Latin

Neighborhood Profile
Quartier Latin
The Latin Quarter bursts with intellectual life, architectural splendor and ongoing merriment. The small streets are filled with classical buildings, student bars and lively eateries while the squares are dominated by historic monuments. The area is defined by the 800-year-old Sorbonne University, where Latin once prevailed, and is famous for the Pantheon which celebrates the great men and women of France. During the day students rush from classes to the library and intellectuals people watch from the terraced cafés. As night time falls the surrounding establishments fill up and the merriment really begins. The liveliest parts are around Rue Mouffetard, lined with crêperies and international street food eateries, and Place de la Contrescarpe characterised by terraced brasseries, this neighborhood provides real nourishment for the mind, belly, and soul.
