The hotel is in a great location, right in the marais with restaurants, bars, very cool Paris scene around you. The hotel itself is not particularly stylish but this is the kind of hotel for just crashing at the end of the day with your eyes closed. Cons: Small everywhere including corridors! Tiny lift (smallest I ever saw) Heating/cooling is... More

We stayed in this hotel for the first time, for 4 nights in December. Read a lot of reviews about small rooms, but we found out that our room was quite spacious enough! We did have a superior room, so maybe that's why the room could've been bigger than other rooms. Room 305 was nicely decorated and had a nice... More

This is a very good hotel in the middle of the Marais. The lobby is trendy but the rooms are more cozy--nothing special. The neighborhood is quiet and safe--lots of great restaurants. It is a 7-10 minute walk to the nearest metro. My room, 103, was small but clean. I was always happy to crash into bed at the end... More

The lobby is very good-looking. The room we had, 306 was a bit small but clean. We had a metre on both sides of the bed to walk through. Unfortunatelly the shades of the windows fell of every time it was passed. Futhermore, the bathroom was very new and clean. And the breakfast was worth waking up for

I would highly recommend this hotel. Very clean, people very friendly, staff spoke English. Rooms are very small, but you are in Paris, expect it and you're not in your room for very long. Great location, walking distance to Notre Dame, restaurants, wine shop just around the corner, cheese shop, 2 minutes away. We loved the location. Just know that... More

As we were looking for a hotel somewhere in Paris, we had no clue where to go. A friend of us told us to check out Hotel du Vieux Saule in the Marais...So we were looking on booking.com and we were pretty convinced this would be a good hotel in a good neighborhood. 2 Days before we would arrive in... My partner is 6'6" or 2m tall. When making the booking, we had the choice of a double bed or a queen bed. As the queen bed is longer, I requested we get a "long" bed. When we checked in, we noticed that there was no mini bar / fridge in the room. When I mentioned it to the concierge... More

Not recommended for larger guys. Had to squeeze into the half round shower. The toilet was wedged between the little sink and the shower. The beds were adequate but have slept on more comfortable. Would not recommend more than 2 pieces of carry on luggage in the room. High marks for air conditioning. Staff not overly friendly.

Ok hotel, not more.. Rooms are extremly small, a bit outdated and in dire need of a renovation/refurb. Our room had had the bathroom redone, but not the rest. As several reviewers have pointed out, the smartness of this hotell goes only to the surface. The shower lacks a curtain/screen, wich meant that every shower resulted in a very wet... More

This hotel is in a great location, surrounded by lots of places to eat, drink and shop, and it's smart and in good condition. Some of that smartness feels only surface-deep however: the bath with shower attachment had no shower curtain/screen so every shower covered the bathroom with water; the plug didn't fit the sink; the (very shallow) sink's overflow... Staying in Le Marais

Neighborhood Profile
Le Marais
The Marais is a winding maze of multi-faceted streets that beg to be explored. It bursts with small boutiques, historic buildings, cozy traditional restaurants, and hidden parks. Around each corner, you'll come across little gems of architecture spanning the centuries, from understated medieval towers to classical libraries and 17th century splendor. This neighborhood unites a rich mix of people of all ages, but it's best known for the gay scene mostly in the south and the Jewish community around Rue des Rosiers.
