We picked this hotel in booking.com (specifically mentioning that we needed an adapted room) - Hippodrome was the only 2-star hotel in Montmartre that claimed to have adapted room (iaccording to booking.com and in their home page). When we arrived, our room was supposed to be on 2nd floor (no elevator at the hotel and the staircase is very narrow).... More

Even though we had two small problems (bathroom door wouldn't stay shut and the only free electrical outlet wasn't well attached to the wall), this is a great hotel and a great value. It was very clean and on the larger side for a cheap Paris hotel. The location is unbeatable (two blocks from the Moulin Rouge, Sacre Coeur, and... More

Typical Parisian mid-range hotel. Friendly service, tiny room with even tinier bathroom. Close to two metro stations and walking distance to many attractions. Very close to Place de Clichy (strip clubs etc) & the Moulin Rouge. Award winning baguettes 2 mins away at Coquelicot.

We tried to be in the room only after dark as we didnt want to have to look at the black mould around the windows or on the ceiling or the peeling wallpaper. We arrived quite late on the night we checked in and when we asked to be moved we were told they were full. It seemed unlikely as... More

Location is not very good. Using the metro/RER map, location is in zone 3. Not very convenient. Anyway, it was only a 5 min walk from the RER station 'joinville le pont'. Once we exited from the station we could see the hotel. Hotel wasn't very new. it had many rooms though. but rooms were quite old, clean though. one... More

The Hippodrome is at the very west end of the Pigalle area of Montmarte - the road that leads from the Gare du Nord and goes past the strip club district, the Sacre Couer, the Moulin Rouge and Le Chat Noir. All making for a very interesting walk to the hotel - if you're going with your partner or a... More

This was my first trip to Paris and first trip to France. Everybody had prepared me for the overall known bad standards for hotels in Paris compared too many other European capitals, but I got a really positive experience. The hotel is situated just around the corner for Place the Clichy and the metro station that easily take you where... More

The Hotel Hippodrome is fairly clean, has beds, and is in the heart of the bohemian part of Paris... but if you like happy and attentive staff, prompt reception and space in your room - then it's not for you. The hotel is basically several tiny rooms centred around a darkly lit, and super creaky staircase that when ascending, feels... More

Very clean! Friendly, extremely helpful and knowledgeable staff 24 hrs a day. A little on the small side (makes it cozy, though!) and no elevators, but the location was great (two blocks from a Metro station) and the price was really good, especially for being close to all the sights of downtown Paris by metro. Reasonable check-in and -out times...... More

For the price, we were expecting something a little newer and more spacious, but it was good overall. Red carpets, bedspreads, and curtains certainly fit in with the theme of the neighbourhood. There were actually some pretty great little cafes close by on Blvd. Clichy, and good metro access. Desk staff were a little unhelpful - I asked him (in... More
