Fantastic service, room, and location. The front desk was consistently friendly and helpful. The room was about twice as large as another, pricier hotel just three blocks away where we stayed previously. There are several cafes and brasseries just a block from its front door as well as the best patisserie we tried in Paris just a couple of doors... More

Possibly the friendliest, most accommodating hotel staff I have ever come across. Also well designed rooms regarding the use of space which is important in the centre of Paris. A little more sound proofing in the room would be the only improvement I'd have liked but it hasn't caused me to change my rating. Perfectly located too! Thoroughly enjoyable trip.

The hotel is a little out of the way of the main attractions, but the metro is close by. If you are looking for rustic France, then this is the place to stay. The hotel staff are exceptionally helpful and friendly. The bar is a tad limited, but the wine is reasonably priced, unlike the bars in central Paris. The... More

This is a very nice hotel ideally located near multiple metro lines, stores, and restaurants/cafes. The best part about the hotel is the staff, especially the front desk people. They are very friendly, accommodating, and have lots of great tips for the area and Paris in general. Other positives: free wifi, air conditioning, and the room was bigger than I... More

A lovely boutique little hotel in central (as it can be) Paris - not far from Saint Placid metro (about 13 stops from Gare de Nord). My room was relatively 'spacious', nice décor, decent sized bathroom, good wifi, minibar, safe etc. Lots of restaurants, shops, bars, amenities on their doorstep. Would recommend for leisure or work. Only "negative" really was... More

A lovely small hotel, nice rooms...not big but comfortable and clean. Lovely breakfast area in the basement , great selection of food for breakfast. Nice restaurants near the hotel. Situated in a pleasant and quiet area.

The position of this hotel is perfect for Paris, if you are like me, and don’t like to stay in the busy full on tourist part. Its near good food and several bars and brasseries, but only a 10 minute walk to the left bank, ready for a stroll to , well the rest (I like to walk al lot... More

This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel, so obviously we liked it the first time! And when next we go to Paris, we will stay there again. The only slight negative about the hotel is that the rooms are small, and somewhat oddly arranged. But that is typical of many downtown European hotels. And, in any... More

The HSSG was a good quality hotel at a fair price in an excellent location. The breakfast was good and the service was outstanding, particularly the front desk staff. Unfortunately, the upgraded double room we booked was claustrophobic, and looked out into the interior light well. The room itself had an odd smell, but it was not overwhelming. I suspect... More

This hotel is well-located - easy to get to and within walking distance of many lovely neighborhoods (including St. Germain, obviously). The rooms are very small -- my companion and I were quite surprised -- but they are comfortable and relatively quiet. Breakfast is decent, staff are friendly. This is a good choice if you want a comfortable, affordable, reliable... More

Staying in Saint-Germain-des-Pres

Neighborhood Profile
Saint-Germain-des-Pres
In Saint-Germain-des-Prés, life is effortlessly chic and all things are beautiful. The main boulevard is dotted with famed terraced cafés, haut-couture shops, ivy-covered railings and fine-dining restaurants. Antique dealers and art galleries surround the fine art school and small museums hide in unassuming squares. The neighborhood’s namesake church is the oldest in Paris and is the backdrop for talented musicians every weekend. The Luxembourg Gardens house the national senate, splendid lawns and flourishing flower beds. Famous faces and bourgeois Parisians frequent Saint Germain accompanied by the students of Rue Saint Guillaume and Rue des Saints-Pères. This is a neighborhood where afternoon people-watching from a café or playing cards in a brasserie are a key part of the daily fabric.
