In town by myself, this hotel suited me perfectly. As others have stated, the location is ideal for seeing attractions by foot in any direction, with stations very accessible. The diner below for breakfast was a pleasant experience and being in close proximity to cafes, bars and supermarkets, all requirements were met. The laundromat is fifty metres away so that... More

We booked this hotel for 5 nights as a short break. We are 2 friends travelling to Paris to sightsee. The hotel is in an ideal location, around 15-20 minutes from Gard Du Nord and easy access to the whole of Paris via Cadet Metro station, literally a 2 minute walk. The Louvre is about 25 mins away. We had... More

I have just returned from a stay here. On arrival we were welcomed by a very pleasant and Newley refurbished reception, cafe and walkways. Expecting this to continue to the rooms we were very dissapointed. Looking at the website it states that it is 'newly refurbished' which it definitely wasn't. The room was in desperate need of some tlc. Broken... More

This hotel is the best choice for affordable, but VERY comfortable stay in central Paris and I HIGHLY recommend it to anyone who is looking for reasonable price, comfortable holiday stay and central location (8 mins walk to Opera, 15 mins walk to The Louvre, 1 min walk to metro Cadet and 10 mins walk to Paris Nord Rail Station).... We checked into a room with a broken air conditioner and the hotel staff has no solution for us. We have to stay in a hotel without aircon. My recommendation is please DO NOT even think about coming to this hotel. Even if the location is good do not come. Look for other hotel. I would recommend the other hotel... More

Dear Yann Ping L, Thank you for your comment. We are very sorry that you had a bad experience at the Holiday Villa Lafayette. We bought this hotel in July and I am managing it since then. And when we read your comment, we knew where to start to improve our services! So our first investment was to repair all... More

I booked through late rooms, com on 5th May,2014 for 3 nights(20,21,22 May) I arrived in early evening and was told that the hotel had cancelled my booking. The receptionist told me that an email had been sent to late rooms but that there had been no reply. She then phoned round and found me a room in another hotel, but... More

What a terrible experience. The only positive is the good location; on walking distance from the Gare du Nord. Unfortunately the bedrooms are small, need desperate maintenance and better cleaning. The bathrooms have had some refurbishment but are terribly small and the shower only gives a little water. The breakfastroom is a tiny area full of mirrors (to make it... More

When you read that this hotel is a "Malaysian" hotel and boast "local" cuisine. You would expect nasi lemak would feature up there among the "the must" on the menu. Unfortunately, not in our case. But the kuewtiow goring they served were respectable nonetheless. We spent two nights there at a slightly bigger room, the street view was fantastic. It's... More

Stayed for 3 nights with family. Good points: Near metro station, restaurants, groceries shops, staff are friendly, requested for a baby cot for free. Bad points: Room is too small, no kettles, no fridge, small bed, could be noisy at times, hotel is not baby friendly Tips: there is a laundrette near Rue de Chateaudun Overall: Not a great stay

This is the worst hotel I have ever been to. First of all, the lobby is very nice which would lead you to believe that it was a nice hotel. Once you step into the elevator you start to realize that this is a shady place. The elevator was so small and dirty. It also shakes as it goes up... More

Staying in Opera / Bourse

Neighborhood Profile
Opera / Bourse
The neighborhood around Opéra and Bourse is a belle époque paradise of grand boulevards, refined arcades, and mass-market art-nouveau entertainment. Here, modern day workers continue to take advantage of the legacy that nobility and finance left in the 19th century. Brightly-lit brasseries, theaters, and cinemas sit side by side with French bistros predominating in one area and Japanese restaurants in another. The area is most famous for the Palais Garnier opera house and glamorous department stores.
