There are many good points about this hotel, many of which are covered in other reviews here. It is good value for money, clean and quiet. It is close to transport links, and it particularly handy for both Orly airport where you can get the bus straight to Denfert Rochereau, or the RER B (sud) straight from CDG airport (takes... More

The Sophie Germain Hotel was entirely renovated last year. Each floor is decorated in a different color scheme, and not all floors are pictured on the web site. We tried to accommodate you the best we could, by giving you one of our larger rooms (405). Had you voiced your concern during your stay, we could have moved you to... More

This place isn't fancy but it is very clean, everything is brand new and the bathrooms are nice and modern. The location is great, more of a neighborhood than a tourist zone but convienent to the bus and metro. Easy RER B train ride from the CDG airport. The people at the front desk are friendly and helpful. My room... More

We are happy that you did overall enjoy your stay with us. It is true that just about all Paris hotel rooms will seem a bit small by American standards. That is especially the case in the center of town, and in the classic stone buildings, most of which date from the renovation of Paris under Napoleon III between 1852... More

This hotel is very modern, clean, comfortable and quiet. It is also really close to Denfert-Rochereau station and the catacombs. Other tourist attractions like the Eiffel Tower the Louvre are relatively close also. We got our room for EUR85/night which is pretty good given the location. Rooms were a bit on the small side but that didn't take away from... More

Thank you, we do try to accommodate the change of travel plans of our guests, whenever our room availability allows it. Being a relatively small (32 rooms) independent hotel allows us to be flexible, and to focus more on the needs of each one of our guests. More

I stayed for a week at the Sophie Germain. It is a modest and comfortable place with air-conditioning (important this August, as it was very hot) and a very committed and helpful staff. It is but steps from the Mouton Duvernet stop on the very central 4 metro line, and just a couple of blocks from the Denfert Rochereau stop,... More

As you pointed out, not all hotels in Paris are equipped with air conditioning, but we are. France has moderate weather year round, but can occasionally get really hot around July and August. Since the Sophie Germain was entirely renovated last year, you can expect all the modern amenities when staying with us. We are glad that you enjoyed your... More

This was an excellent hotel for our recent trip to Paris! It was convenient to the metro and an adorable market street. The patisserie across the street was amazing! We loved our stay here. Clean, quiet, and affordable boutique hotel! The staff was friendly and helpful.

We are glad that you enjoyed your stay. We are only about 100 meters from the Avenue du Général Leclerc with its easy access to all sorts of public transportation, yet we are located in a quiet side street. Besides the bakery across from us, there are also various restaurants (French, Italian, Japanese, Thai, Moroccan), some on our same street,... More

This is a good, small hotel located in a quiet and nice area with shops, restaurants and bars. A metro station (line 4) is located 30 meters away from the hotel entrance. Our room was very small since located on the last floor; however, it had a small balcony with a nice view from the 6th floor. The hotel and... More

Thank you for your nice comment. As you mentioned, bookings through travel web sites usually do not include breakfast. You can always reserve your room directly on our hotel’s site, then you get the option to include breakfast. We get fresh bread and pastries delivered every morning straight from the bakery. We hope to see you again on your next... More

1. the elevator did not work when we first arrived. 2. Also, receptionist had no recommendations for us to get dinner. i subsequently learned there are literally dozens of restaurants within 2 blocks. Subsequently, the night guy gave us a good recommendation. 3 rooms are small. Indeed, the toilet was such that my knees hit the far wall! (sorry for... More

We stayed at Sophie Germain for 4 nights this December. The staff is very friendly and helpful, our room was comfortable and clean. (Most important!!) It felt like a haven from the crazy Paris crowds!! The breakfast was ok, convenient and tasty. There are metro stations nearby so Paris is easily accessible. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone.

Though slightly away from the centre the hotel is right near the Metro station and some good shops and bars. Easy to walk to Montparnasse. Reception small but friendly and the room and bathroom equally compact but spotless and comfortable. And quiet. Breakfast was typically continental but adequate. Good value for money

Staying in Montparnasse

Neighborhood Profile
Montparnasse
The namesake tower of Montparnasse dominates over the landscape but the fun part is the throbbing life that goes on below it. Bright lights, busy cinemas, brasseries and diners encompass hidden museums and parks to entertain the masses. Long avenues lead away from the tower to take you to unsuspecting places and historical monuments and treasures. In between lie adorable ivy-covered houses with beams and small gardens to match. Just a short metro ride away from the center of Paris this neighborhood has something for every hour of the day.
