Fantastic location - great travel links. Hotel was full of charm and character, even the stair case ! Surrounding area superb, great shops and night life. Hotel bar nice place to start off the night. Paris isn't the cheapest place to eat eat and drink but Hotel Central is an ideal base to explore Paris from. Would stay again.

I've just reserved for September 2010. This will be the 4th time I stay at the Hotel Central Marais over a period of 8 years. I had to laugh at the earlier reviewer who said he got a much better price and facilities a 15 minute subway ride out. I want to be able to step out the door and... More

Stayed with friends in late September 2009. Rooms are spacious with lovely big windows in a wonderful area of Paris.

Le Central Marais is located on a corner of two streets that form a T. A gay bookstore is few doors down; two or three cafe are diagonally across from the hotel, a comedy club is down the block, an off-off Broadway-type little theatre is around the corner, and a killer magazin de glace is on the opposite corner. From... More

No doubt the staff were kind, but I must say that in the words of Betty Davis, "What a dump"... My spouse and I are well travelled and always open minded to cheap accommodation, however this place was not worth the money - just for location. We got twice the room for half the price three subway stops (15 minutes)... More

I'm glad I never read any of the reviews before staying here, otherwise I might have turned and ran for the hills! I think some of the criticisms are a little unfair - what were some people expecting for 90 euros per room per night - the Georges V? Yes, the staircase is difficult to negotiate if you have a... I like this hotel because it is so close to the gay life in Paris.I have stayed here 3or 4 times. Everyone was kind to me. I love the bar downstairs. It is a great clip to the evening or a fresh start. The owner is Welsh and therefore understands hospitality. The boys in the bar are entertaining and friendly.Last summer I... More

I stayed at this hotel mainly because it was heart of gay Marais. I also want to dispel some of the negative reviews as I think some of them are unfair. First off, I want to say Aylau and Martin were super nice and helpful. When I arrived, I noticed I was THREE DAYS EARLY as I had messed up... More

Knowing nothing about this hotel, and not much more about Paris (my first time there in nearly 22 years) I chose this hotel based on a write-up in a gay-oriented guide type magazine. I found the article to be very misleading with what I encountered at Hotel Central Marais. First off, the location is OK, but it isn't *that* "central"... More

Staying in Le Marais

Neighborhood Profile
Le Marais
The Marais is a winding maze of multi-faceted streets that beg to be explored. It bursts with small boutiques, historic buildings, cozy traditional restaurants, and hidden parks. Around each corner, you'll come across little gems of architecture spanning the centuries, from understated medieval towers to classical libraries and 17th century splendor. This neighborhood unites a rich mix of people of all ages, but it's best known for the gay scene mostly in the south and the Jewish community around Rue des Rosiers.
