Paris is a lot of things - The younger mistress that makes one do what they shouldn't. The wiser older girlfriend that knows you all too well, and the spouse of 35 years that you would not be able to live without. Paris provides. For me the best time to visit the City Of Light is in the winter months.... More

I loved this place! Not my usual boho style, but perfectly located, near some great places to eat, shop, drink, and revel in all Paris has to offer, not exorbitantly priced, and best of all, the people running it were super nice and helpful. Warmth is not really something you can expect from this city, but the manager really cared... More

It was a dream of mine to stay on Ile St. Louis, and since we were spending two nights in Paris at the end of our Switzerland vacation, this seemed like a good time to do it. I loved staying here. The only negative was the price, which was pretty high for such a small standard room. Of course, that... More

This was our second stay at Hotel de Lutece and as before, loved the location and appreciated the helpful staff and immaculate rooms. The location is just perfect- an easy walk to the Left Bank and 2 minutes from Notre Dame. We will definitely return.

Easy to find, very attractive from the street (despite road works happening during our visit) but our 2 night stay was let down by our room inexplicably smelling of cigarettes! Totally bizarre as none of the communal spaces had this smell, but it was quite overpowering in the room, and unfortunately the manager was not very helpful as to finding... More

What a joy to find a quiet, charming old hotel on the equally charming St Louis en I'lle, around the corner from Notre Dame! The tiny cobble stone street out front was filled with interesting shops and cafes (and about a zillion gelaterias), and best of all, NO TRAFFIC AT NIGHT! I was able to leave my windows open all... The Hotel de Lutece on the beautiful Ile St Louis proved to be an excellent choice for our 4-night stay in Paris. The hotel has a very intimate atmosphere and is very comfortable. Our knowledge of French is limited, but we had no problems communicating with the very friendly and helpful staff. The breakfast room itself is small but we... More

The location is the best, and the room is "tres joulie" it is small but with a lot of closets to put away all my luggage. The bathroom had a lot of space so I got room for all of my bathroom "stuff" The friendly and helpful concierge made it a very pleasant stay.

We have just returned from a lovely romantic stay on the Ille St Louis and the Hotel Lutece must be our ideal Paris hotel. It is situated in an ancient historic building, but the rooms are freshly renovated in a classic style and the bathroom in travetine. We had a back room which was truly quiet. Reem, the other front... More

We were in Paris for 2 whirlwind days of sightseeing and could not have had a better location! The accommodations were comfortable, not spacious, but room enough given the time frame! Everything we needed was right outside the door. Would love to return and highly recommend to others!

Staying in Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis

Neighborhood Profile
Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis
Two islands sit in the middle of the Seine at the very heart of Paris. The more majestic one, Ile de la Cité, sparkles with history. This is the birthplace of Paris, the home of the Gothic Sainte-Chapelle, and the site of the prison where Marie Antoinette was held before her execution. Tourists flock to see the iconic Notre Dame and the beautiful bridges that straddle the Seine. Ile Saint-Louis, the more provincial island, welcomes you with cozy traditional eateries, small boutiques, and what some people say is the best ice cream in the city. This is essential Paris from its very beginnings to its modern appeal.
