This was our first trip to Paris and we happened upon this hotel through internet searches and reviews. As far as value for money, warm hospitality, spacious rooms and location goes, you would be struggling to find anything better. Check in was the quickest I have ever experienced; the time it took to walk in be give a room swipe... More

This hotel has warm and friendly staff who greatly improved the stay. We asked them for so many favors and they were always willing to call for cabs, offer eating recommendations, or give directions. For example, my son left in the early morning before breakfast was served. The front desk clerk made him a fee cup of coffee and also... More

Hotel was recommended by friends. You can't beat the location, walking distance to museums and Eiffel Tower, two metro stations close by. Great staff, very friendly and helpful, speaks English very well. Clean rooms with A/C. Very good value for location.

Excellent location within walking distance to the Eiffel Tower, Louvre Museum, many restaurants, etc. The staff at the front desk were always helpful whether we needed directions or a recommendation for a place to eat dinner. Our room was spacious, with a table and two arm chairs. The hotel is air conditioned which is a nice plus. The hotel is... More

Very friendly and helpful staff. Our room at the very top with its balcony looking over the rooves of St Germaine was very special. Good size room (with annex including fold out sofa and separate TV). Coffee machine, mini bar. Wall mounted good size TV to watch the football. Modern bathroom with great shower. Perfect location. We will stay here... More

This hotel was recommended by neighbors who had stayed there. It's a good value for Paris. The room was clean, the service excellent and the croissants were perfect. We found the location, a quiet, charming neighborhood in St. Germain, to be just what we wanted and was within walking distance to busier sections of Paris.

This is a very reasonably priced (for Paris) small hotel in Paris. The lobby and breakfast room are a bit basic but the room was very comfortable and the bathroom had a great shower. But the real reason to say here is Olivier, the front desk clerk, who was amazing. He let us use his cell phone when ours ran... More

While not cheap, this hotel is great value in Parisian terms. St Germain has loads of character without being in the very busy heart of tourist Paris, and access to the Metro and by foot to many of my must-do destinations made it a very useful location, especially for just a four day stay. In the past I have stayed... More

This is rated a three star hotel, but for the cleanliness, location, and kind help from the staff, who all speak English, it should be rated a four star hotel. The staff will speak French if you prefer.

Stayed for two nights while in Paris for business. Hard to pinpoint the character of this place: not exactly quaint, but certainly not generic. From reading earlier reviews, it seems like it was a little bit rundown a couple of years ago and then underwent renovation. Room was downright huge by Paris standards. Bed was very comfortable, bathroom small but... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Hotel de l’Université is a former Benedictine convent and has retained many period features while adapting to the needs of 21st century society. The reception area is vast and delightful with its ancient beams. It is an immediate illustration of the style and appeal of this quality establishment. The Hotel de l’Université only has 27 bedrooms, allowing the staff to focus on an individualized care. Each room has its own decor and character, many ornate with ageless beams, but all benefiting from tall traditional Parisian windows allowing daylight to flood in. All the rooms have been renovated in 2011 and include air-conditioning, mini-bar, safety deposit box and a free Wi-Fi connection. A laundry service is available upon request. The rooms on the top floor overlook the rooftops of Paris and some have the rare bonus of a private terrace. The Hotel de l’Université is not a place to stay for the night. It is a journey into the history and style of Parisian life, a chance to experience life as one of the locals and bring back unforgettable memories. ... more   less
