We usually write to the prospective hotels before booking them. We ask a simple question, such as if they can recommend any tours or if they have an elevator. If they don’t respond, we send them a second email, if they still don’t respond, we look for another place to stay. The reason we do this is to test the... More

This hotel is located right on the Seine across from the Louvre. Close to the metro, cafes, museums. The room was not huge but it was comfortable. The staff were all wonderful and helpful and I am extremely grateful they all spoke at least French and English. If you are looking for a charming, well priced hotel with great location... More

I knew what to expect-the hotel is older and the rooms aren't huge or luxurious. The elevator is slow and teeny. BUT! We looked out our window on the Seine, and the Louvre was directly across the river. The hotel was charming and the staff was helpful and pleasant. There was a busy street outside our window, but with the... More

This lovely hotel in the heart of Paris is filled with history. The Manager Veronique and staff Gerard and Bernard were helpful and very informative. I loved their humour and they made you feel welcome. My room was very romantic and the view breathtaking. It was nice to see boats along the river and the busy bouquinistes on the streets... More

Small room...enormous view!! Paris-feel in all aspects of the hotel. We visited Paris during Christmas week. We found people to be friendly and staff members to be helpful. The only negative thing was when two staff disagreed on directions to the nearest subway station. We wound up getting lost and we missed our eurostar reservation. So please know your destinations... This hotel is difficult to review because I'm used to stays in 5 star hotels in Asia which cost far less and offer far more. I have very little experience with hotels in Paris, so will simply report how we (two adults) experienced our 7 nights here and hope you can find something helpful. Firstly, the location is brilliant. It's... More

Not really a luxury place, but lovely and very cosy. And when you open the french windows to look out, you have the Seine with the bouquinistes directly under your feet and the Louvre on the other side. Just across the Pont du Caroussel and surpassing the Jardins du Louvre you have the Rue de Rivoli and Palais Royal. Staying... More

All of the staff and manager, Véronique Glineur, made our stay so special! They were extremely helpful and had great recommendations and always with a smile. Our room, although small, was adequate and extremely clean and we had a wonderful view overlooking the Seine. We decided to have breakfast the last two days of our stay and we were glad... More

Hotel is situated in historic building, perfect location close to centre, Notre Dame, museum Louvre and river Seine, nice atmosphere of hotel, rooms are small, but there are very typical for Paris centre hotels, small bar opened 24 hours daily, nice staff.

We wanted a great location to revisit the entire city, and this was it! They saved a balcony room--great view, and we were able to leave the doors open all night. Every staff member was so pleasant: we wouldn't change a thing!

Staying in Saint-Germain-des-Pres

Neighborhood Profile
Saint-Germain-des-Pres
In Saint-Germain-des-Prés, life is effortlessly chic and all things are beautiful. The main boulevard is dotted with famed terraced cafés, haut-couture shops, ivy-covered railings and fine-dining restaurants. Antique dealers and art galleries surround the fine art school and small museums hide in unassuming squares. The neighborhood’s namesake church is the oldest in Paris and is the backdrop for talented musicians every weekend. The Luxembourg Gardens house the national senate, splendid lawns and flourishing flower beds. Famous faces and bourgeois Parisians frequent Saint Germain accompanied by the students of Rue Saint Guillaume and Rue des Saints-Pères. This is a neighborhood where afternoon people-watching from a café or playing cards in a brasserie are a key part of the daily fabric.
