This place was unimaginably bad. Nothng like the pictures we had seen. The room was horrible, small, dark, - and when we got off the elevator to go to our room, the sensor lights in the hallway on our floor never went on - and we found ourselves in total darkness trying to find our door (which by the way... This was the worst of the 6 hotels we stayed in Europe. The room was tiny and had a motel room kind of feel, and had an odd smell. The "balcony" was a 6" ledge with a railing that all the windows in Paris has. Worst of all, the toilet wasn't great and got clogged the first night. There was... More

I was shocked at how pathetic this hotel is. I had to go back and look at the pictures on the website to see why I possibly booked this place. The "lobby" and the "bar" consists of a essentially a coffee table with a few bottles on it. There is no comfortable room to sit. The elevator opens up to... More

It was OK but for 147 euros a night for two you would like to get more than OK. This didn't include breakfast (another 12 euros) but I avoid the stewed catering coffee of hotel breakfasts whenever I can. And for 7.50 euros we had brilliant breakfasts round the corner in the shadow (the sun did shine for us) of... More

I took my daughter to Paris last week for her 17th birthday and was a bit anxious about where to stay as I didn't want to disappoint her but didn't want to pay the earth either. Previously we have stayed in apartments in Montmartre and place de la Concorde areas as a family but it wasn't worth getting an apartment... More

Hotel is three star (basic) but hits well above this weight. Rooms are cosy with comfortable bed (old style feather quilts), bathroom small. Phone, TV and minibar. Breakfast in the basement has many options missing from larger hotels (fresh fruit, fresh squeezed orange juice) (7AM till 10AM). Holds about 14. What sets this above many other similar hotels is the... More

This hotel has excellent very helpful staff and is very conveniently located next to the Luxembourg Gardens. It is within easy walking distance of most key sites in Paris. The rooms are rather small - but typical of european hotels. The room could be brighter (ie more lights or stronger lights) but overall was quite good. We stayed for 4... More

I have been staying in "Les Jardins du Luxembourg" about twice a year for the last 4 years. It is a very nice hotel just near the station Luxembourg of RER B (direct gare du Nord and Roissy), and therefore perfectly located for visiting le quartier Latin, le Pantheon, la Sorbonne etc. It is also perfectly located if you have... Staying in Quartier Latin

Neighborhood Profile
Quartier Latin
The Latin Quarter bursts with intellectual life, architectural splendor and ongoing merriment. The small streets are filled with classical buildings, student bars and lively eateries while the squares are dominated by historic monuments. The area is defined by the 800-year-old Sorbonne University, where Latin once prevailed, and is famous for the Pantheon which celebrates the great men and women of France. During the day students rush from classes to the library and intellectuals people watch from the terraced cafés. As night time falls the surrounding establishments fill up and the merriment really begins. The liveliest parts are around Rue Mouffetard, lined with crêperies and international street food eateries, and Place de la Contrescarpe characterised by terraced brasseries, this neighborhood provides real nourishment for the mind, belly, and soul.
