This was my first trip into Paris and I booked this hotel on the strong recommendation of a friend who visits Paris often. At the end of my week, I can say it was ideal in every way ... ten minute walks to the Louvre, Notre Dame, and the Pompidou Centre but set back in a quiet backstreet just a... More

Lovely little hotel within walking distance to Notre dame and The Louvre. Hidden in small back street of the Rue de Rivoli. 5 min walk to metro Châtelet station. Continental Breakfast is delicious with fresh pastries and room while small has great decor and character with exposed timber beams. Staff very friendly and happy to help tourists.

I am glad I booked that particular hotel. Situated right in the center of Paris, 10 minutes walk from either La Notre Dame or Le Louvre, having a parking right in the corner, metro and bus station across the street, I had no problems commuting to the attractions. Even most of the shops are nearby (Avenue Rivoli). Rooms are beautifully... More

It is central, just a quick walk away from Pont Neuf and 50 metres to the Metro and it is really pittoresque at first and the staff went out of their way to help us which we really appreciated. A big +++++ to the receptionist, with glasses, that helped us find a restaurant at New Years Ewe (Au Pied de... More

This is exactly what we wanted. A central location for our numerous walking trips and dining. We took the train from CDG and had a very short walk to the hotel from the Chatelet Halle's train and metro stop. We were walking distance from many great restaurants and next door to a grocery store for buying wine and cheese. The... More

We took my parents for a short 3 day trip to Paris and wanted something central so we could walk but also had access to public transport. Value was important as well paying for two rooms. The Grand Hotel Dechampaigne looked perfect until we read some negative reviews so we were apprehensive on a arrival. We needn't have worried. The... More

First of all, this hotel is very old and very small. Stay here for the location and the helpful staff. It's close to the metro (Chatelet station is literally so close), Notre Dame, the Louvre (10-15 minute walk?), restaurants, and a supermarket/grocery store. Our first room was tiny, a "standard" as they called it. We couldn't even open our suitcases... More

This hotel has lately become my ‘default’ hotel when I’m in Paris. The Grand Hotel Dechampaigne is not particularly grand, and does not serve Champagne on arrival, but it is full of charm and is very close to the Chatelet Metro, a main nerve-centre of the rail network. It is also in one of the quietest streets of the area... More

Staying in Les Halles

Neighborhood Profile
Les Halles
Historically the central iron-clad market of Paris, Les Halles has evolved architecturally since then but the pulsating energy has stayed the same. Now it houses the main shopping mall, which nestles underground surrounded by fast-food take-aways and international restaurants coupled with beautiful churches and the old commodity exchange. Parallel to it are the high-street stores of Rue de Rivoli and just parallel to that the Seine. The area bustles with faces from all continents and all ages at all times of the day. If enjoying high-street shopping with easy access to fast eateries and lively bars is on your agenda, this is the place to go.
