I stayed recently in the Mercure Place d'Italie. As a previous reviewer said, you'd almost walk past the hotel without giving it a second glance, but if you did so you'd be missing out!! Through the doors, the reception area is clean and bright, and well decorated, with plenty of couches in which to sit and read, or to have... More

This is a nice hotel, well situated. Place d'Italie metro station a few steps away. Shopping centre nearby (Italie 2). Little neighborhood café right next door for your morning espresso. Didn't have breakfast at the hotel but it was very reasonably priced at 6 euros. Outside market literally at the door. Rooms were of decent size. Very clean, bed linen... More

We stayed here four nights. This is a nice hotel with a great location. It's located between two metro stops each being a short walk of a couple blocks. The staff was always friendly and helpful in giving us directions to the attractions. Many restaurants are within easy walking distance, with a large outdoor farmers market three days a week. Around... More

We stayed there three nights in October. If you see the hotel from the outside, you probably would not enter. Inside, it is great. We had a newly renovated and nicely designed room to the court side which has been really quiet. Everything in the room has been well working. The breakfast was great, which a good choice of fresh... We spent a night at this hotel located just outside of the Place d'Italie Metro station. Our room was very clean and possibly had one of the best rests in any bed. Room decor and room itself was very clean indeed. Bathroom was uniquely designed with an amazing over the top shower. Staff was very friendly and helpful. By metro... More

Having only a few days in Paris we booked a convenient hotel; in Paris this means expensive. Having said that, we had booked through Air Canada Vacations, and likely would have paid less by dealing direct. The hotel is ordinary in appearance and amenities, though the service was very good, and the location was exceptional. There is an excellent breakfast... More

Room clean and well appointed - appears to have been recently refurbished. Local market immediately outside meant that on one morning we had a set-up process for stalls staring at 5 a.m. The noise wasn't welcome. Hotel staff were generally friendly and helpful, although the glaring discrepancy was that on one evening we asked for bar service at midnight and... More

A newly renovated room, great breakfast but the bed was really rigid and uncomfortable. Pros Great breakfast - range of juices, scrambles eggs were very good, fresh fruit - everything you need for a breakfast - excellent especially for this price range had much worse in same sort of priced hotel. Only negative room was the room was in the... More

Hotel was picked by the travel company who planned the basics for our vacation this summer. Hotel is in a great location - close to metro stop and outside of the very touristy areas so the restaurants are reasonably priced. Several restaurants close by as well as a pharmacy and a patisserie. Breakfast was included with our room and was... More

Nothing could have prepared us for the messy corridors of what would be quite a nice hotel. Prior notification would have been appreciated. No carpet in the fifth floor corridor whatsoever dusty working environment right upto the door of 501. Reason we booked this hotel was that it stated single beds for family room not roll away beds and as... More

Staying in Place d'Italie / Quartier Asiatique

Neighborhood Profile
Place d'Italie / Quartier Asiatique
Far off the beaten path, this part of Paris is a forgotten gem worth exploring. Avenue d’Ivry houses Europe's largest Chinatown with great Asian supermarkets and shops, and a thrilling atmosphere around Chinese New Year. Place d’Italie impresses onlookers as soon as they set their eyes on it. Not far, around La Butte aux Cailles, the streets suddenly imitate provincial France and you’ll feel like you’ve been transported. The beauty of these streets lies in their surprises around every twist and turn.
